RRoD after three years.....What if?

I was looking through my warranty information i keep on my various possessions and realized i only had 6 months left on which my xbox 360 would be covered for RRoD. Now this got me thinking what if a xbox RRoDs let's say two days after the warranty expires, what then? Will Microsoft feel pity for the little people who can't psy or won't pay for another 360 out of principle, or will they leave us to the wolves of woe and disappointment?
