Blindness- Canada's next Blockbuster?

Can you name any Canadian #1 box office hits? I can.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding made $240 million in 1992.

Norman Jewison’s The Hurricane starring Denzel Washington made $50,668,906 in 1999. But it’s not really Canadian... its not a Canuck story anyway.

Porkys made $105 million in 1982.

Can we do it again? Paul Gross and Justin Trudeau star in Paschendale which I believe hits theatres in September.

My hopes rest in the new Canadian movie, BLINDNESS

Don McKellar's screenplay adaptation of Jose Saramago's popular novel with the same title. The movie, like the book, questions what would happen to society if a super bug that causes blindness were to infect a large urban center?

i'm not a big fan of critics as it is, especially when it's just one guy telling everyone what he thinks is right. the movie didn't get such a good reception at cannes, but im big fan of the author - and i'm hoping it does well when it comes out. the cast is a little iffy, but julian moore picks sick roles. i love her.
