Sinestro is a big time matter and energy manipulator too and he's highly intelligent as well (on par with Thanos at least IMO) and a master tactician. This is a good fight as long as it lasts.

Thanos doesn't have the tools to take Sinestro out quickly. It'll be an energy battle and I don't see Thanos blasts ending Sinestro quickly at all. Not when Sinestro can go intangible and do all sorts of other crap with Qwardian energy like putting up force fields.
And Sinestro is battle savvy (the greatest of the GL's and all that) so he would last a fair bit, win or lose.

SS is PIS unless you think that's how a forum fight between Thanos and SS plays out? In a forum fight SS wouldn't walk into Thanos fists.
Thanos is above SS, but those kind of scenarios are one sided and plot induced, not so with a forum battle.
EDIT: And theoretically given Thanos' powerset, SS should be giving him one hell of a fight if not beat him outright. But in Marvel Thanos> SS so I can't argue even though logically SS should be having better showings against simply pure energy manipulation and a slower fighter.

That is a cool sig. FALSE. Thanos has crushed the Surfer who is a very capable energy manipulator. He beats him like he owns him. Same scenario here. Thanos is much smarter than Sinestro to boot.
