This thread might be a mismatch, but what the hell......
John Preston and Blade face off in the nightclub from the beginning of "Blade." Blade has all his weapons he had in that battle. Preston has his twin pistols and katana.
Here's how it goes down. Deacon Frost knows Blade is coming, so he hires John Preston to kill Blade. Blade enters the club, just as in the movie. The vampire ravers see him, the crowd parts, and there's Preston, dressed in his black Cleric garb, his sword strapped to his back, his pistols cocked and locked.
Preston knows who Blade is, knows what Blade is capable of. Blade also knows who Preston is, and is fully aware and briefed on Gun Kata.
Who wins? The vampires here are merely spectators, they cannot help.

Gun Kata would be pretty useless against someone who primarily doesn't use guns and who most definitely doesn't fall into the same statistically predictable patterns that Gun Kata is based on.
I think if it comes down to sword or h2h then Blade clearly has superior speed and strength but they are closely matched with regards to skill with the sword but Blade again out performs Preston in h2h.

Gun Kata seems more disciplined than Blade's style, but Blade has the superhuman advantage on his side. Not to mention Blade's superhuman healing factor.
I don't see Blade avoiding getting hit by Preston's bullets. Also, hard to see Blade being able to hit Preston with HIS bullets.

I would definitely say "some" gunfire. But, Preston would have to sever blade's spinal cord/put a bullet through his brain stem in order to take him down.
And then, it's only a matter of time before Blade recovers.
However, since you gave Preston a working knowledge of Blade, that's exactly what he would try to do, from the get-go. Then, cut his head off, I presume. I would say in the gun fight, Preston 7/10.
Bladed fight, Blade 10/10. Blade is just as fast if not faster than Preston with a Katana. He's also MUCH MUCH stronger. If Preston doesn't end up flying across the room from a single strike of Blade's both their blades should break/shatter.
I thought it best that they had some knowledge on each other.

What other gadgets did he have in the opening club battle? I remember that he had his flying boomerang thingie and his stakes.

Don't see why he wouldn't. Gun Kata is based on statistically predictable patterns of fire. Do you really believe that Blade falls into those statistics or do you think he'd be an extreme outlier?
But yeah, even if Preston hits him it'll probably be met with "MOTHER****ER ARE YOU OUTTA YOUR DAMN MIND???"
Only if Preston shoots him in the armor. Head shot and Blade goes down.

Blade can avoid some bullets. Various vampires in the trilogy have dodged bullets after they've been fired before. No reason to assume Blade can't because he's like a "peak" version of a vampire IMO just like 616 Captain America is a "peak" version of a human being.
But I wouldn't expect him to dodge them all. Neo was eventually overwhelmed with dodging and slipped in the first film. But it is in a nightclub with little lighting. Blade does see perfectly in the dark and can move easily out of Preston's view with his speed and agility. If it gets up close it's all over. Preston(while arguably more skilled in h2h and sword combat) cannot contend with Blade's superior physical stats.
Preston's only chance is to tag Blade. Blade has more options. Plus he can take bullets(armor or not) in certain areas. Preston can't.
I agree. I don't see how Preston could stand up to the strikes, at all....much less strong enough to cause the blades to break/shatter.
I said shatter because Blade did break his blade in the body of ...I forget his name, in II. He jumped over, stabed down the torso, and brok his blade off in that dude's body.
