I do see quite a few names that are dead, depowered or weakened currently.
Arion for example, was a very powerful sorcerer back in his heyday, but he's lost alot of his power nowadays.

Marvel's magic community seems a fair bit more active and has more members, but what DC mages are around are fairly strong.
A lot more spellcasting gods and villain types- using sorcerers to throw a curve was common in the silver age.
