well, this is a better fight than sanji vs rock lee, sanji can fly he nowcan use double- leg diable jambe and if im not mistaked and has some sort of ranged attack, but if not gai has kunai and is taller giving him more range close and far. i dont kno his speed but sanji is mach 18... fast as sheit, but i think gai is faster. but i'll give it to gai.
I think range is the key factor here. gai just has more. He can keep sanji at a distance with his thousand peacocks attack, or that lion/tiger punch thing. It would be hard for Sanji to get in close.
btw, i was wrong up there, might guy IS NOT close to mach 18, he is at more barely hypersonic. sanji has a speed advantage and most naruto characters are only supersonic. sanjis shin was broken in his fight against someone who could call themselves right hand man to doflamingo and was still fighting and recovered fairly easily. his durability is much higher along with striking strength and decstructive capability. i give it to sanji now.
The whole speed argument is ridiculous. You can try to mathematically calc any feat you want, at the end of the day you have no idea what the artist intended. I doubt either one of the artists is good enough to accurately portray the speed they are intending. Unless they both are also mathematicians as well. I usually base them off of how fast they are in their respective mangas. Both are known to be pretty quick in their Mangas, so speed is irrelevant. Then it comes to versatility. Sanji doesn't have much range as to where Gai does. With that, I think Gai takes the majority.
no, its been proven, take things in the show that have happend in real life, like look at a 4 story building is lets say 1600 yards tall, lets say theirs a bomb on the ground, and their explosions travel at 400 mph, if sanji skywals to the top of the building and gets their before the explosion gets to the second story, then sanji is 800 mph (none of this is actually happend). people actually take the time to measure these. obd calcs are legit and ive seen how they take currents parts of the show to use a feats. and you cant say the creators dont mean for their characters to do these things when 1: they "intend" to make people like naruto mountain bust, so they also make gai faster then the eye can see, and 2: THIS IS BATTLE MANGA, every win, loss, and thing that has been taken note of was not only planned months ahead by authors like oda (mathematician or not), but is also VERY consistant unless improved upon, which is why it might not seen that way. lets say your a track star who can run a 60 yard dash 7 seconds flat, do it over and over again and thats your 60 yard running time, no mathematician needed. OP is faster then naruto and right now zoro, luffy, and sanji are the bottom of top tier in their respective universe and are all capable wrecking gai sensei. though they might hold similar purpose in their own shows (the martials arts guy) speed being greater in OP makes it greater on sanji aswell. and this is unbiased as sanji is my 2nd to least favorite strawhat, the fact remains he can beat gai, will improve even more later on.
Wouldn't the source manga be the thing to use, though? Not so sure how it is these days, but back in the day when anyone argued DBZ, you never even thought of bringing up the anime or movies.. (Unless we're specifically talking about movie only characters, like Brolly..)
