Let me get this straight. You think being turned into a mindless swelled up energy bomb is an amp. Not just that, according to you an "amped" Surfer is only capable of destroying a moon at the cost of his own life...
Yet... Surfer has destroyed planets multiple times without an amp under his own power, and without much trouble too. Something doesn't seem right here, hmmm.
The difference is between energy blasts and physically destroying something. Have you seen surfer punching or ramming a planet or a moon and destroying it? He couldn't puncture a ship's hull with his full force strike once FFS.

In the scans Thanos himself said that the amount of energy Surfer absorbed were past his limits, to the point where he not just loses his mind, but was on the brink of self-destruction. IOW Surfer absorbed so much energy he could've "exploded" and caused "self-destruction."
Becoming an energy sponge, engorging yourself with energy to the point where you lose your mind, to the point where you're about to exlode and kill yourself doesn't sound like a straightforward amp in my opinion.
It's an "amp" only in the sense that he had a sh*t load of energy stored in him like an overfilled water balloon about to explode, but it obviously had huge deficits too, like making him lose his mind, and the potential for self-destruction.
And why would Surfer need to destroy a moon by ramming it? He's destroyed a moon as a side effect of his battle with Morg. He's destroyed planets much larger than moons with energy blasts.
He was amped and that's it. The fact that a little of sun's energy overloaded him is just even more funnier.
He has also been exhausted from destroying a space station and some robots. Characters fluctuates, thinking surfer always operates at planet destroying level is foolish.
Yeah the "amp" only consisted of him engorging himself with so much energy he lost his mind and was about to explode like a water balloon and die. Context matters a lot when interpreting a feat. Not just the pretty pictures.
What on Earth suggests to you that he absorbed very little solar energy? Or is this something you pulled from thin air? Given that Surfer has absorbed the attacks of an entire fleet, and used it to transmute a yellow sun to a red sun gives you a stick to measure with.
Oh you mean the time Mephisto was messing with his head and causing him to hallucinate and go mad? Again, context matters, and people should be cautioned when reading your posts, since they deliberately leave out important context.
Who says Surfer operates at planet busting levels all the time? We know from feats that he can reach those levels easily (in-character) if the circumstances are there, like when the planet has no life, and his opponent is powerful enough.
