As of Slade's new book, his HF appears to have taken a serious jump, he was walking around (granted barely) with the back of his head totally blown out. Where as before he'd be done if he took a bullet to the chest.
With his increased HF, he'd at least be able to last with Bane, in a head on fight. But if Bane got his hands on Sladr, it would probably not end well.

it's not tho. look at the first picture of him from behind. you can see that more brain fell out as he was falling to the ground. During the fight, the damage wasn't that bad. He wasn't fighting with all the damage seen in the last panel of him face down.
