Why do people think Vader not wanting to kill Luke somehow makes Luke's victory less impressive? It's not like Vader wanted to lose. And the idea of RotS Kenobi defeating Luke of all people easily is retarded.

I'm sure what he wanted was for Luke to turn to the dark side so they could rule the galaxy as father and son. However the novel makes explicit that he was certainly prepared to kill Luke, and was going all out to demonstrate as such.
