Oh yeah. You said "This thread is been done before. Use the Search option next time, followed by the coordinates to the other thread, which, I believe, is in EU".
well, i dont particualrly like yoda....and well, chewie uses a gun that looks like a crossbow, but really shoots lasers! gotta give him respect for that......
Dude, Maul and Grievous have plenty of character. Maul is a very dedicated, assassin thief type of sith who wishes to be the best with a lightsaber.
Grievous is a proud warrior who hates his metal body and is a master strategist. He defeats the Jedi in battle with blasters before he gets his first sabers, then uses sabers and becomes the most dangerous Jedi killer the galaxy has to offer.

What should be expressed in the films and left out of EU?
You can't put everything in the films you know, there is only so much Lucas is willing to put into his work. Besides, we couldn't show all of Sidious' training and how he became a Sith in episode 1, then the film would be like 4 hours.
And I live in the real world and I love the PT

Their characters (true im not sure about grevious), they have about as much screentime as Palpatine (in RotJ). They just a flaws in their character, flaws in their creation or something . . .
Only 4? Yeah for a quarter of the training. You just can't put everything from books in movies or everything you want in movies. Movies don't last forever you know, i'm sure Lucas wouldn't have minded creating a 7 day lasting movie if people would have actually watched it then.
ok, how do you explain why the PT is not as good as the OT (this is a fact, more people 'real people' eny the OT more)?
How do you explain that people don't like Maul like they do Vader.
How do you explain why people don't care if Qui-Gon dies, as with Padme.
There is something wrng with the PT, and I have narrowed it down to these characters. Yet I realise there not the only culprits.
Lucas is a visionary director, he can't work with actors, but he can create. So give him a highly useable and efficent computer to play with and he'll come up with somewhere magnificent and compelling. Ask him to go back to his day job and he'll give a half hearted attempt!
He was targeting the younger audience, and has said so before. Everyone who experienced the OT as a child ended up loving it, so he had more tools to do so with the PT, and he sacrificed story and acting to do it. All from his words.......it wasnt half hearted, he was full hearted trying to do sumthing original fans didnt like and cant understand. It his movies, he can do what he wants, but ROTS is going to change that, this will be for the OT audience. Hence the PG-13 rating and more anticipated arrival.
The PT is not as good as the OT because for so many years we've overhyped what it would be like and how we think it should be. We've expected to see Vader running around and hunting down Jedi, but that's not what Lucas wants. Also, the PT does have unique characters, but one of the most crucial characters it does not have is HAN SOLO. I swear, his character is an integral part of the story telling.
People expected Qui-Gonn to die because Lucas likes to mirror his movies. Look at AOTC, an arrogant Sith lord chops off a young skywalkers right hand, it's a direct play on ESB.
People don't like Maul as much as Vader because Vader is the OG Sith badass. It's hard to top an original, and even though Maul is cool, he will never be that awesome villain we all grew up with.
That's the main reason the OT is better, we grew up with it, it is Star Wars, it always has been. The PT is an excellent addition to an already amazing story, but it will not be better than the OT.
However, I think Episode 3 will be either better ot tied with the OT.

Also, Lucas has a bigger budget now and is more concerned with making it look good, than being good. He's gotten older, so his style in story telling has changed and he's ggot kids now, so he's into romantic crap like episdoe 2

Yes I agree (though reluctantly) about RotS, but my point is that given al these visual wonders; he seems to be half hearted about the characters that fill it.
But parents in the 70's liked the OT. parents think PT is , well childish.
And what a waste of Ewan McGregor's talent?
