The AW invades just as Imperiex is making his big push for Earth, and the two forces meet.
Annihilus has his Galactus gun, but no Aegis and Tenebrous (Who really did NOT fight in the war. People act like T&A were weapons, when they were really one off plot devices who stuck around long enough to capture Galactus, then went their own way.)
He also has Thanos.

What the AW had going for them were sheer numbers. Except here, Imperiex has them beat as he just cycles them over and over again.
Their best hope is if they can somehow capture the energy that results from the probe detonations, and prevent Imperiex from getting it, thus eventually starving him.
Otherwise, each probe is better than 95% of the AW. I mean, they had the Centurions but they didn't impress me much.
Are the Centurians those guys Ravenous was leading against Surfer?
Popping out of a black hole like it was nothing was pretty impressive.
Could also be pis, considering less hurt them (Does Ronan hit harder then the force of a black hole?)

Yeah the anti Imperial Guard, basically. Champions of a hundred worlds in the N zone who had fallen to Annihilus.
Apart from them, and maybe Blastaar, they have very few hero units and a LOT of fodder. Imperiex could suicide bomb probes, they'd just return to him and he can make more.
He destroys multiple probes. They go back and feed Imperiex, who makes more. He fires again. They go back to Imperiex. He make more.....
Meanwhile, other probes are swarming the Gun. What happens when one of them detonates( if the bugs are even capable of detonating one?)
Galactus breaks free and....what, starts destroying the AWave? So now Imperiex has a new Ally?
