The cosmic entity from Dark Nights: Death Metal Rise of the New God. How powerful do we wager he is? He seems to be completely beyond any power in the DC Multiverse by multiple tiers, given his nature as an Omniversal Functionary of the Source, and in turn being “protected by the Source”. Seems to add another layer to the DC hierarchy.

You could also argue that he was below the Darkest Knight and Perpetua because it was implied that he didn't have the power to stop them, and that the Darkest Knight supposedly could defeat the Hands...which are his superiors? That's all we really know.
I personally place him below other Multiverse-transcending characters like Mr. Mxyzptlk, simply because he doesn't have any notable feats.
He is most definitely above the new gods. He does seem to be multiversal but on the low end.
He clearly wasn’t at DK or Perpatu’s level but strong enough that he can just revive new gods very easily
Where exactly is it implied that Chronicler didn”t have the power to stop the Darkest Knight or Perpetua? Intervening would defy his function (even though he did not want to let DC be destroyed). The Darkest Knight in the state we see him at any point of the Death Metal story was no match for The Hands...as the person who defeats him (Golden WW) and her entire Multiverse are erased in a blink by them.
The only explanation I can think of are that Darkest Knight would have grown exponentially more powerful if WW and the Heroes of the Multiverse completely surrendered to him, given that Darkest Knight tells Wonder Woman that either they keep fighting and the Hands destroy them both and everything else, or Wonder Woman surrenders to BWL and he destroys The Hands. Or The Darkest Knight was lying and he never would have stood a chance to begin with.

DK doesn”t even think he can beat the hands unless WW surrenders to him. He says if they keep fighting, the Hands will be stronger than both of them, but if she surrenders to him, he”ll have the power to destroy the Hands. And given WW defeats Darkest Knight and proceeds to get instantly erased by the Hands along with the entire Multiverse, I have my doubts that the Darkest Knight wouldn”t have gotten erased himself barring some exponential power boost he would have acquired from the Heroes surrendering.
As for the Chronicler, it seems heavily implied that he is beyond any force from within the DC Multiverse, as the comic constantly makes reference to the fact that he is born from and directly protected by the Source and the Greater Omniverse, and that this puts him “several rungs on the cosmic ladder” beyond Metron according to Metron himself. If he”s being directly protected by the Source, I highly doubt Perpetua/DK/Golden WW could defeat him.
