Does her being a lesbian help or hinder her with solving crimes and get up to hijinks with the crew? Cos unless they put in a scissoring scene I don't think it'll affect the stories much.

I didn't know that James Gunn wrote the live action movie from the early 2000s. And apparently he kept trying to make her a lesbian and it kept getting watered down. Interesting. I've never seen those movies. Might pull 'em up with the kids at some point, though.
