It'd actually be really cool to see Esposito break out of the post-Gus typecasting of suave cultured villain he's been in (at least for the things I've seen, he's been in quite a few things I'm not familiar with so maybe he has) so I'd be down.
Meh I prefer the Malcolm and Martin analogy, as it includes Xavier's perspective as well. That's certainly what X-Men First Class was inspired from (the film), which is still one of the best comic book movies ever made IMO.
In any case the Holocaust was just too long ago now, so unless we want them to be 100 years old, harking back the Civil Rights movement would suit Eric better for a new film.
Why was the possibility of a Black man being cast for Superman/Clark a reason for people to scream "Woke!!!!!11! Reeeeee!!!" but a Mulatto Xavier and Black Magneto are apparently not?
Personally, Esposito would be a fantastic Xavier, or Magneto for that natter. If they want to go older again.

Agreed that the vocal retarded minority, gets the attention.
But if we can accept Giancarlo Esposito as Prof X and Denzel Washington as Magneto, why not his son John David Washington as Superman? Actors are supposed to act as other people, so it's said.
I personalty hope they revamp Magneto's backstory, as him being a Holocaust survivor greatly limits the actor selection if this is going to be set in modern times. That or add to his powerset and make it that he ages slower. A Mark Strong Magneto could be great.

It looks like the guy who wrote that awful Assassin’s Creed movie from a few years back is doing the script for live action X-Men. Not a good start, boys.
