Shocked The Firm Movie

Loosely adapted from Alan Clarke’s 1989 classic TV film, Nick Love’s film is set earlier in the 80’s and retells a similar story to the original – but from a different character’s point of view. The film centres on Dom, a young wannabe football casual, who gets drawn into the charismatic but dangerous world of the firm’s top boy, Bex.

Accepted for his fast mouth and sense of humour, Dom soon becomes one the boys. But as Bex and his gang clash with rival firms across the country and the violence spirals out of control, Dom realises he wants out – until he learns it’s not that easy to simply walk away.

Humorous, heart warming and set to a killer jazz funk 80’s soundtrack, The Firm is a classic coming of age story set amongst one of England’s most revered tribes

Yep, there is a trailer already out. I really like the original, it's one of the best when it comes to the subject matter. Be interesting to see Nick Love's take on The Firm. I like Nick Love's films, one of the right directors to take on the role anyway at least.

I thought the original was quite weak. I expected a lot better because I think Gary Oldman is superb but his character just came across as a ridiculous hyperbole stereotype. The ending when he walks out of the bar is just awful.

I do think it can be done justice though.

I guess I just preferred "I.D" more.

Away Days looks better.

Nick Love's Football Factory = American History X 6 years later.

The book Football Factory that the film is based on was written before the film American History X.

I do like the look of Away Days.

Have you read the book, did it have the American History X ending?

If it did then I take it all back and give props to the original writer.
