Its hard to judge really, Beowulf had three notable fights, Grendal, Grendal's mother and a Dragon.

Grendal and his mother were impervious to swords and had iron tough skin and Beowulf was strong enough to tear off Grendal's arm.

He died fighting the dragon but hell, it was a dragon and he did win! even though he had Wiglaf's help.

he does have feats like swimming home across the sea in full armour, so it could be said that he had some degree of super human strength and stamina.

But as its a hero of an epic poem vs a comic book character its really hard to say imo.

Beowulf was a Geat, closer to a Goth than a Saxon. You call yourself a geek!

Unless Captain America can rip the arms off of beings that are impervious to sword blows, then I say Beowulf.

Anglo Saxon poem with Scandanavian origins, Saxons, Vikings, Normans all shared these origins on a genetic level they were the same people...

Goths were an east germanic tribe that left Scandanavia in 1490BC and settled in Scythia and Dacia.

The events in Beowulf take place in the late 5th and early 6th century which would put it around the time the Saxons began to settle in Britain, the Goths by this time had divided into the Visigoths and the Ostrogoths, adopted a form of christianity and settled in Italy and along the Iberian peninsula.

Seeing as all of them however share the same Origins there will be a lot of similarities in culture, weapons and warfare etc.

Yes I call myself a geek! wink

Pretty much every mythological character has made an appearance in comics at least once. I wouldn't be surprised if he was in a comic somewhere.

Beowulf has Superhuman strength (swam for I think 5 days while fighting sea monsters with Breca and other feats) has fought in several battles with enemies of the geats, and even when he was an old man, he was fighting a dragon.

So, physically, Beowulf is far superior to cap, which just gives Cap the edge (slightly) in fighting skills.

Beowulf wins this.

He is actually right Beowulf was a hero of the Geats who were a north Germanic tribe settled in what is now modern day Sweden.

The poem is Anglo Saxon but its origins are Scandanavian, he was a hero to the Anglo Saxons but he wasn't one himself.
