I don't know if this is allowed, but I want to write about just movies in general that I have seen; and not just one in particular.. I want it to be a continual thread that I will continue to write new movie reviews in. I consider myself a minor film critic and review movies just for fun. I have an entire Video Guide I have created of all my movie reviews of movies I have seen. I started this probably 6 years ago or so. I would like to share some of my movie reviews-mostly what I thought of them and the star rating 0-4. I want others who would like to post their reviews of movies, or comments on mine to do so in this forum. Even if you don't want to use the star ratings system, at least put in your input on it. Again, I'm not sure If this is allowed, but for now I'm gonna go for it; and perhaps tomorrow I will start my first review: old movies and new.

Why not? Cinemaddiction and Stormy Day did theirs, only Cinemaddiction's was 10 times better than Stormy's and not a rip-off in format of someone else's....like Stormy.
I'm fully capable of writing effective reviews, it's just that people aren't as receptive as they once were here, and multiple reviews aren't worth my time. Besides, I don't like the person I became, writing said string of reviews. It put off an air of self righteousness, the likes of which I wasn't comfortable with.
I agree with that. I'm going to make my own review thread. And it's going to beat everyone in the view ratings. It's going to be pimped out. [SPOILER - highlight to read]: I probably won't make a review thread...but I know what your thinking....I should
Is that a threat? Telling me not to create one because yours is going to be "pimped out"? These are movie reviews here...they don't need to be pimped out...and I'm going to continue with my thread.
Sorry, I don't speak your slang. I'm gonna have to go ahead and just review movies...not pimp them out...You go ahead and do what you wanna do...just don't bother me about it.
Recent movies from the past 3 years that I would give ****. There are more, but these are just some of them...and some of them could be actually really around ***1/2 such as Sky Captain...but the point remains that these movies are still movies that I really thought were really good.

Sky Captain
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Moulin Rouge!
In the Bedroom
A Beautiful Mind

Recent movies from the past 3 years that I would give ****. There are more, but these are just some of them...and some of them could be actually really around ***1/2 such as Sky Captain...but the point remains that these movies are still movies that I really thought were really good. Here's what I thought of them...and be reminded these are just Quick Reviews of what I thought of them...Some of the word choice might get repetetive, but I will write extensive reviews of each eventually.
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST-Despite being contriversal, a great movie, with great acting and realism, filmed in Aramaic for realism adds an even deeper depth to it.
THE KILL BILL TRILOGY-Another masterpiece from Quentin Tarantino. Not just a great tribute to old Japanese Samurai fighting movies, but a great story and acting, especially by the second make it more than just about the action.
ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND-Great acting and disturbing in the way that it'll show you what would happen if you wanted your memories erased.
SPIDER-MAN 2-A better movie than the first. One of the ultimate super hero movies ever made. Much improved special effects and a stronger villian and storyline.
SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW-Better than I expected for one...Not only visually stunning but a tribute to classic movies such as Indiana Jones. A great adventure. Reminds us why we love movies.
THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY-What more to say than a great interpretation of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic series. Great acting, music, visuals (especially Gollum-the best looking CGI creature yet) and a classic and familiar story that is for the most part-well adapted.
MOULIN ROUGE!- A great modern musical, visually thrilling (and beautifully edited), great music (sung by the actors themselves).
IN THE BEDROOM- A great drama with top notch acting and storyline.
A BEAUTIFUL MIND- Great acting (By Russell Crow-who deserved his oscar for this rather than Gladiator), drama, and story telling. Based on a true story.
GOSFORD PARK-Great drama/comedy from director Robert Altman.
WAKING LIFE-Simple, visually fun to look at, mostly follows different characters and their opinions on popular subjects in life (kind of like Slacker did)
MEMENTO-Great techniques, not used as a gimmick, but in fact the main focus of the movie...as it takes place backwards focusing on a guy with short term memory loss...Keeps you guessing till the end.
MULHOLLAND DRIVE-Strange yet great in its own way. Very different than anything you'll ever see. From director David Lynch.
GHOST WORLD-Great comic book like movie, and comedy with interesting characters.
ADAPTATION-Another bizarre and wild movie, with great acting and storyline. From the writter behind Eternal Sunshine and Being John Malkovich.
FAR FROM HEAVEN-Great drama, colorful like the old 50's/60's technicolor movies, and a disturbing story with excellent performances.
SPIRITED AWAY-Great anime from master director Akira Kurosawa, who made other movies such as Princess Mononoke and Castle in the Sky.
MINORITY REPORT-A great recent science fiction film and Steven Spielberg movie. With great special effects that are used more as a backdrop than the main focus, for a chase, science fiction thriller.
CITY OF GOD-A great foreign film about the slum gangs of Rio de Janeiro. Great visuals, editing, acting, and story.
MONSTER-One of the greatest performances by an actress ever, as Charlize Theron becomes America's first lesbian serial killer. Great drama and acting. One of the best movies of recent years.
MYSTIC RIVER-A superb drama with excellent performances and a disturbing story of murder and friends.
LOST IN TRANSLATION-A mixture of comedy and seriousness, show how great a simple movie really can be.
FINDING NEMO-Pixar once again delivers a movie that is both for adults and kids alike and should become a classic in the years to come. Also visually delightful. Skip Shark Tale. Watch this.
MASTER AND COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD-Even though many predicted and expected this to be just an action movie, it turned out to be a great sea adventure and focuses more on the characters and ship more than the action.
AMERICAN SPLENDOR-Semi documentary, semi movie...Mixed between real footage of a comic book artist with an actor playing him...Both funny, visually entertaining, and serious.
THE FOG OF WAR-A very well made documentary about Robert McNamara and war and government, mixed with awesome visuals, and a thrilling score.
I will put up my full reviews of some of these soon...I take time to write good reviews...but if anyone wants to know my star rating on any movie that I've seen just ask...and I have seen many, trust me.

Sorry about saying what I did about your thread by the way...let's just discuss movies...
I liked all but:
Donnie Darko, Kung Pow, and Zoolander.
Loved Ed Wood, Fight Club, (Evi Dead) Army of Darkness is classic, Groundhog Day as well, Matrix. I liked the sequels in a different way. Thought the ending to the third sucked...but enjoyed it as an action movie. Thought Scream was good, not meant to be taken seriously all the way. WANT to see Shaun of the Dead. Heard two sides to the Village...will see for myself...
And Donnie Darko, Kung Pow, and Zoolander were love or hate movies.
Many people hate them while quite a few liked them. Wasn't a suprise to hear that you didn't like them.
But before you see The Village you don't want to be thrown off thinking that it's a horror movie, while it's more of a romance/thriller (more of a romance then a thriller though), that's the reason too many people didn't like it. They went in expecting it's a horror and left with some kind of romance.
True about the love or hate movies...I have already heard the ending...which I don't think is either horrible or really good...but I think the movie looks entertaining. I take it you've seen The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs? I liked all of those and YES RATM is overrated. I like Metallica.
