Looking for the name of a movie

The movie was depicting a World War II American warship (or merchantman) which was brought limping back to port only to have the Captain die as they arrived. I think that the engine room crew were Asian and only knew a little English.

I saw it many years ago (30+) and cannot for the life of me think of the name.
