Major T.K. 'King' Kong (Slim Pickens) riding the nuke towards oblivion.

Dr. Strangelove is one of my top three favorite Kubrick flims. Major Kong is one of those reasons.

He is the commander of the B-52 Superfortress nicknamed 'The Leper Colony.' Trivia: James Earl Jones is one of the crew members onboard. This is also Jones' film debut.

He is also the guy that unknowingly triggers a Fallout-style nuclear Armageddon when he drops a nuke onto a ICBM complex in the Soviet Union upon the orders of the delusional General Jack D. Ripper, thus triggering the Soviets' Doomsday Machine.

What makes Kong memorable is that he rides the nuke, whooping and hollering like a cowboy towards the complex just as...BOOM.

Trivia: After calling off the items in their survival kit, Kong says, "Shoot, a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Dallas with all that stuff." But due to the Kennedy assassination, the world Dallas was dubbed over with the word Vegas.
