Stanley Kubrick - the most inspirational director of modern cinema, period.
Tobe Hooper - Directed Texas Chainsaw Massacre, thus he is automatically on my list.
George Romero - Probably the greatest horror director of all time, his zombie trilogy is gold.
Todd Solondz - always has a different point of view on the topics portrayed in his films.
Kevin Smith - Some of the best dialogue ever filmed.
M.Night Shyamalan - Modern Day Hitchcock, always has the audience full controled during his movies, leading them precisely where he wants too.
Darren Aronofsky - Quite possibly the most promising new director, may very well turn out to be the next Stanley Kubrick, His films are doing the near impossible in this day and age....managing to be unique..
Richard Kelley - Another very promising young director, Donnie dark is his first movie, an amazing freshman effort.
Hitchcock - The king of suspense, always knew exactly how to play an audience.
Mel Brooks - The king of comedy films...
Gasper Noe - Has a very eirie, dark and forboding feel in his movies, strives to make teh audience feel sick when viewing his films, and he succeeds..
David Lynch - Very talented, but sometimes pretentious, although he has shown with movies like the elephant man that he doesnt have to rely on confusion to push his movies.

Danny Boyle - 28 Days Later was the icing on the cake for me.
Steven Spielberg - The guy has made films in nearly every single mainstream genre there is.
David Cronberg - Spider proved he can direct more then horror movies but in the same Cornberg stlye.
Peter Jackson - Even before LotR, i admired Mr Jacksons creative style be it from the downright weird (Bad Taste and Meet the Feebles) to the more disturbing (The Frightners and Heavenly Creatures)
Stephen Sommers - Again another director with an excellent creative style.
