Let's face it: Remakes and reboots are the bane of the cinematic world. However, there will be a few instances in which this idea works, and in those times making truly good movies. A big trend seems to be remaking old TV shows into new blockbuster films. So what shows do you think, if done right, could make super kickass movies you'd pay to go see? Is there someone you'd have in mind to be apart of the feature (actor, director, ect.)?
First on my list is good ol' "Land of the Lost." No, not the god awful comedy crapfest, but an actual adventure film full of science fiction, action, and wonder. Almost in the vain of movies like "Indiana Jones," "Jurassic Park," "King Kong (remake)," and "Romancing the Stone."
I can't think of a director right now, but I think Hugh Jackmand would make a good Rick Marshall.
Another choice for me would be an old school robot show I love called "Super Robot Red Baron." It's a great old school science fiction show that mixes giant robots with some espionage in between. I think that if you pump up the government agent aspect and juice up the robot fights that you could make one hell of an action movie. The robot designs were really cool, the show's first villain Dr. Deviler was a cool Blofeld-esque foe, and it gave an epic but fun feel to everything. I could see the likes of Jon Favreau making the movie.
Im still waiting for them to make movies out of The Jetsons,Gilligans Island and The Munsters. Years ago they kept saying they would make movies out of these shows but they never did.
Well they did pretty good with The Flintsones I thought. The Jetsons were always being mentioned around the same time as they were about being made into a film and I always thought it would be harder to make a real life action film out of The Flintstones than it would be for The Jetsons with the way there has been so many science fiction movies made and everything.
Supermario Brothers would make a good movie but it would not be as good as the old one that they made in the ninetys and making a movie out of "Munsters" may be interesting.
Dexter would be fan****ingtastic. EVERYONE would go to see a LOST movie, but I dunno if it could work. Heroes would be good if they actually had the budget have actual powers shown decently (and a f*cking Peter vs Sylar fight!!!!). CIS (anyone except or Miami) or Law and Order. Hmmm, House?
Gender: Male Location: Sailing the seas of cheese.
What's the point of making a Lost, Dexter, CSI, etc. movie? Those shows are cinematic in their nature. A movie would just be the same as a two hour television special. Seriously, was the X-Files movie really necessary. Even the South Park movie just felt like a two hour episode, there really wasn't any benefit of seeing it at the movies.
I think Impediment is referring to outdated shows that would be cool to see revamped with new technology and current actors. I'd like to see a Buck Rogers movie. A Smurfs movie would be cool, but darker than the cartoon, something Guillermo Del Toro could sink his teeth into.
All the ways you wish you could be, that's me. I look like you wanna look, I **** like you wanna ****, I am smart, capable, and most importantly, I am free in all the ways that you are not.
