I'm pretty sure he started out as a simple, clumsy high school aged hawk, one day at a faulty Ukranian power plant he was bitten by a radioactive human, giving him the a wide variety of cancer based superpowers, including the inability to regenerate tissue and Nth level sterility.

Last I knew they were:

Uses Nth Metal to defy gravity, fly, heal wounds, and regulate body temperature

Enhanced physical strength

Has the memories of living through many past lives

Proficient in the use of archaic weaponry: maces, nets, spears, and shields

And if The Claw of Horus is allowed: The Claw of Horus is a gauntlet that draws its power from the Earth's magnetic/gravitational field. Hawkman used it against Superman in Superman-Batman: Public Enemies saying something to the effect of "Essentially, I just hit you with the planet."

Not sure how much has changed, though.
