no, Volstagg tanked a combined blast from both Vector and X-ray, and Etrigan is way more durable than him. Wrecker and Ironclad gets slapped silly then the three are bfr.
U do know the size of a sword right? Anyway before that Vector blasted at him and X-ray shot him clear across town to the stadium. After all that not even Volstagg beard was singed.
Fantasy sword physics. He-Man blocking blasts and such.
From Volstaggs words, he could guard against wide area beams, probably due to some sort or magic/enchantments on god swords.

A sword being lifted up from chest level should not protect the lower body, especially one with that big of a gut. Also, considering how in the previous panel that after X-ray blasted him directly which threw him for miles, Volstagg was still fine. It would follow that he is capable of tanking such.
It shouldn't be repulsing that much energy either, but you can see by the art that much is.
