I understand your reasoning about Fantomexs hax powers but what's your specific reasoning for Raven. What specifically about her causes them so much trouble?

that is one way it could possibly go. been shown recently that thought>light speed though so if he thinks misdirect first they are in a lot of trouble immediately...
and raven's soulself would be a challenge. no real analogue in marvel.
It's basically a spell he casts by talking. The second one is when Archangel/Dark Beast figured out how to reflect it back at Fantomex, but it still shows Fantomex trying to cast it. Plenty of time for a Monica-sized beat down.
As a side note, it's also not that useful mid-fight since the illusion doesn't really take hold. It's why Psylocke was able to beat him 1v1. And Agent Zero stalemated him. And Deathlok Spiderman could fight him, etc.

And when it works against everyone else. Jean with the Phoenix Force. Deathseed amped Psylocke. Professor X. Wolverine. Deadpool. Shadow King. Apocalypse's horsemen. etc etc.

Anyway, they don't depict his actual words every time, as it's already been established that's how it works. We simply didn't see when he actually cast it. We're also often getting it from the perspective of the "misdirectee", as it makes the reader confused about the illusion too. That's what made the series awesome.

yeah, i don't think that explanation holds in all cases. it worked, but it doesn't explain many of the showings imo. he even misdircted the celestial SHIP. all that to say it is't even a guarantee she would go at him first. a misdirect that has the ultimates winning quick and easy would have all their guards down and most would be taken out rather easily i think after that. ults have much more raw power though and without a misdirect they lose pretty handily.
The ship one is dubious yes, but it meshes with most of the rest. And they were all under the same writer, who established early on that's how it works.
And who knows, maybe the words help enhance what his opponent sees. He still had to "cast" it in that scan. I don't see why a Monica blitz is out of the question. As for her likelihood of targeting him, I don't know. Fantomex has been known to fisticuff people, as well as misdirect seeming wonky when engaged in full combat with someone.

Good question. On that same note though, we need more of a consensus on how combat applicable it is. We present it as a "stun to KO" type of attack on the forums, but it's usually something he uses to run away. It's like being bodily present mucks with the illusion, or maybe the "casting" takes effort he can't afford to spare when someone is all over him.
Look at the Pyslocke fight(scans). Or his multiple scuffles with the Deathloks. Or when he fought Deadpool. Or Agent Zero. or AoA Iceman.
