However, Tiamut was nearly powerless at the time, which makes the feat MUCH less impressive: http://i.imgur.com/KDyN1Ef.jpg
On the other hand, Mageddon destroyed Wonderworld and all of its Godlike, hyper-dimensional inhabitants(aside from Glimmer, who only escaped by running perpendicular to time.) And in DC(especially under Morrison), higher-dimensional status typically puts you leaps and bounds beyond anything from the lower dimensions. For example, the beings of Wonderworld were so advanced/powerful that they contained an infant universe in a petri dish, and were able to imprison a 5D Imp inside a 6D bottle -- this was all on display in their museum, lol: http://i.imgur.com/wkrpSjD.jpg
*And remember: Mageddon wiped out nearly the entire race of 'Wonderworldians' solo.
Additionally, the Pax Dei(the literal army of God) were so certain that Mageddon was going to destroy the universe that they completely abandoned it, and had actually began engineering an entirely new universe to replace it: http://i.imgur.com/uIRzhw0.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9NoU6af.jpg

Doesn't Mageddon wipe them out by using its empathic mind control to cause them to wage war against each other? How would this apply to a battle with Galactus?
I always loled at the fact that entire JLA was getting their shit pushed by random minions created out Mageddon's body (Orion got captured in a box), Superman basically says "Not on my watch *****", shatters the bonds by Mageddon and absorbs its entire power which is exact opposite of his own power like matter and Anti Matter.
really? i was reading through allot of older threads an a bunch of people were wanking the hell out of him- calling him a universe buster at the very least. there was even a "BCA galactus v.s. mxy" thread.
Yeah he was trash. He had unlimited capacity to devour matter and energy but he couldn't do it on his own. So he created a machine to help keep him going by funneling matter and energy into him. He also lost his mind because of his ravenous hunger. So he was a mental and physical cripple (he couldn't move) that relied on his 'feeding tube' to keep him alive.
His 'universe' busting relied on his feeding machine, without it he'd starve to death and the universe would be saved. His devouring of Tiamut was also overhyped. Tiamut was all but powerless when he flew into Galactus' maw.
BCA Galactus was probably the most pathetic version of Galactus on panel.

Hardly any of this is seems accurate from what I recall. Where do you get that he would starve without the machine? Once he devours Tiamut, he stops feeding and his mind comes back with all of that power in him. And where do you get that Tiamut is "all but powerless"? All we know is that he is less than 100%. And Galactus's mental state is due in large part to Tiamut's manipulations.

So wouldn't that mean that the display against Earth and it's heroes is what counts toward a battle with Galactus as opposed to what is done to Wonderworld?
I know that everyone on Earth gains super powers, but is everyone described as Superman level?
Did you not read the arc? Richards saw that Galactus needed the machines to feed and was gonna use the Shi'ar nukes to destroy the machines and end his threat. That's why Tiamut went after them and did everything in his power to stop them. Without the machine keeping him feeding and alive, Galactus would have died and Tiamut's plan would have been ruined.
Tiamut was still under the Celestials punishment for his betrayal. So his Deviant slaves used machines to wake and power him. Once Reed and crew destroyed the machines that were powering him, he was running on his own limited power that Reed taxed by making him chase them through time. When they got back to Galactus, Tiamut had exhausted his reserves and couldn't escape the pull of Galactus' maw.
Yeah. That's why I said he was mentally crippled. His hunger had driven him crazy.

I know that they are attempting to destroy the machine which is generating the black hole, but can you steer me to where it is stated that Galactus will die if the machine is destroyed? I can't remember that detail so help me out.
Galactus's hunger is such where he is going to devour the universe. Devouring Tiamut satiates that hunger. That indicates that a great amount of power still resides in Tiamut; not enough to escape from the black hole, yet far from powerless.
Not sure of the relevance to the battle. At the end, he is coherent, and I gather still containing the absorbed power. He just stops feeding and is of the mind to use to UN.

It's all right there. Galactus NEEDED the machine to eat because his hunger was out of control. Galactus dies if he can't eat. Reed says it's the machine that's feeding him. The AI of Tiamut's computer confirms this when Reed and crew are about to use the Shi'ar tech to blow up the feeding machine and says "RED ALERT! Disruption of Galactus' future is imminent! Direct Intervention!" Then awakens Tiamut. You understand what the bolded part means right?
Oh please. Iron Man's repulsor rays, HT nova flame, and a THROW from Mjolnir (not even a Godblast) was enough to satiate his hunger. And the heroes weren't at 100% going by Iron Man and HT's statements: (please log in to view the image)(please log in to view the image)
The relevance is, BCA Galactus was a raving cripple that relied on his machine to keep him alive and fed. Understand now?

Ok, so as we see, the machine is built by Galactus himself (a galaxy sized device) so as to devour the universe and nowhere is it stated that he needs it to stay alive.
Thor and Torch temporarily counter the beginning of the reemergence of Galactus's hunger and nowhere is it stated that Tiamut is almost powerless. Only weakened.
