Basically, you know The One Danny faced? The robot? That was Wolf's replacement. His job was to face Iron Fist's as their final test after they conquored the dragon and gained his chi. He was very, very good at his job, and one day Yu Ti commanded him to throw a fight for Orson Randall, the only other white guy to become Iron Fist (He used handguns, and powered up Danny with his chi before he died in Immortal Iron Fist.) He refused to throw the fight and left to form his own mystical city of malcontents.
Danny may have won, but only after an ephiany of realizing he had to protect K'un L'un. Contrasted with going in to battle against Fat Cobra and having it put in his mind that he must lose, which he was uncertain affected his performance on a subconscious level..

So like I said, kind of hard to compare this to Fat Cobra.
Danny was waaaay more motivated against Wolf.
And Stilt, see what I mean about Bendis maybe being given an editorial nudge? Maybe a worry a death arena won't draw as well if Danny gets Bane'd in a parallel series, and that's all fans know of him?
