Which is exactly why Sym would tear him apart, but has Shazam ever had that kind of an affect on the characters that he fights?
Lobo for example, would not be able to go toe to toe against Sym with a natural weapon, if he wanted to stand any chance of hurting him. Lobo was able to hurt Shazam though with just his fists, as would Superman, and J’onn. None of these guys would be able to harm Sym under normal conditions.
He was hit by a magical weapon. Jane recently hit Sym in the face with Mjolnir, and it had no effect whatsoever. Would Shazams punches have a similar effect as Mjolnir, or is it simply a matter of Mjolnir not truly being a magical weapon at all, but more of an elemental type of attack? Destructive, over it being magical attacks to be clear.
I’ve seen Shazams punches affect magical creatures in Superman/Shazam First Thunder.
The thing here is that Bill’s punches don’t sting like Syms punches when he hits non magical characters. Perhaps because he’s a demon?
At any rate, Hyperion would as likely be one pieced by Shazams punches as Superman, J’onn, Lobo, and Black Adam. His fists work best against demons than humans, and in Marvel the only place that he’d be a threat on the level of Superman would be in a place like Limbo, or the Dark Dimension where everything would be like paper to his magic destroying fists.
This could go either way, and favors the best pugilist imo.
S'ym swatted a Mjolnir toss but Jane never hit him in the face. In fact, Jane kinda two-shotted him with an amped Undrjarn and a follow-up lightning strike.
Hold on a sec. I admit to not having read the entire book, as I was going to read it fully tonight. But Jane had zero chance of stopping Sym. I thought that it was her All Weapon that put him down? Mjolnir is an elemental attack on the surface, magic attacks are only channeled through the hammer. It does not hit magical beings like Sym for any lasting damage. Shazams fists or entire body hits magic creature as if he was made of magical metal. Mjolnir differs, because it is composed of Urdu instead of a magical element or spell that allows for it to hit magical creatures.
Okay, All Weapon was easier for me to remember. Sym swatted the hammer so easily because he is a magical creature, and can only be hit by a magical weapon. Mjolnir would have to be rigged up to hit magical creatures for full damage, or be composed of iron, or an alloy that hits magical creatures. Uru isn’t composed of that particular substance from what has been seen.
Because Sym would take Hyperion apart with ease, while Billy would not. It is not a correct assessment to believe that Billy would be able to hurt Hyperion any more than he would be able to hurt Superman, J’onn, Lobo, etc. The magical properties of his body allow for him to hit magical creatures like Sym for extra damage, this is different from when he hits non magical creatures.
Hyperion would be equally capable of hurting Billy as any of the others that I mentioned, and not receive extra damage. What was being quoted in the scan posted by Stilt applied to a different sort of magical being than Shazam, who buffs up extremely high against extra dimensional creatures, demons, and magical constructs.
That Shazam is not Hyperions weakness. He can hurt Hyperion just like he can hurt any of the other characters that he has faced. Hyperion can also hurt him.
Billy is strong against magical creatures. When he assaults non magical creatures, he does regular damage against them. Sym on the other hand has a magical advantage over non magical creatures. Unless you battle Sym with Billy’s magical fist, or a weapon capable of hitting magical beings, Sym is going to beat the shit out of you. Billy is the closest thing that you get to having a Superman that can weaken magic by punching it.
well, you see, by understanding that Billy could hit Sym and that Sym would wreck Hyperion, we can conclude... nothing of relevance to Billy vs Hyperion
