lets lynch his ass mad

No, my friend hadn't watched the anime before and because M Night skipped over so much of the story he didn't understand half of what was going on. The acting on top of that was atrocious.

Yeah apparently Aang or Ong as it's pronounced in the movie [SPOILER - highlight to read]: is in control in his avatar state already, which completely ruins the storyline. Oh and Roku wasn't present at all in the movie. Neither was the summer solstice scene, arguably the most important part of season 1

That's not really an M-Twist, I was expecting something like Aang's a ghost or the whole story is just some computer game some kid is playing.

Though you're right, having that aspect from the beginning does take a shit on the story, as the adventure and trials to attain it was a key aspect of t he animation. Indian ****.

I guess that's a matter of opinion, Dragonball actually had a plot you could follow, crappy as it may have been. Do you remember that episode in season three where they have a play about Avatar? That's kind of what the movie is like.

Going by the action sequences seen in the theatrical trailer I highly doubt that's even possible. I haven't seen either film though.

I say that because I spoke to a mom of 3, today, at work. She said that she watched bits and pieces of it with her kids and she greatly looks forward to the film. Can't be that hard to follow if a mother that barely watched it, knew what was going

a few parents i spoke with earlier said the same

The actress for Katara really pissed me off. Sokka was alright, but not anything like the real sokka. I think that the only reason that they picked the actor for Aang was because he can do flips and shit. And why the hell didn't Aang turn in to a giant sea monster and own the shit out of those boats. DAAAMN YOU M!

Yikes! The reviews for this movie are not good. Metacritic give it a 22/100 and rottentomatoes only 7 out of 89 reviews were positive. Not good at all sad

First complaint.

Why the **** can nobody pronounce anybody's ****ing name?

Who the **** is Ong? Or Sooka? Or Ear-row? Or General Chao?

Could NOT get used to it, even Avatar was pronounced awkwardly.

One good point about the movie is that the actual H2H fighting had pretty decent choreography, although some of the bending was... Awkward.

Also, random point, one moment of lulz was when like ten Earthbenders are doing some elaborate stomping martial arts motion, and then all do a combined attack... Which consists of a rock smaller than a basketball hovering fairly slowly towards their enemies... They might as well have been throwing rocks lol.

The story was really, REALLY rushed, which I almost forgave, but honestly, they could have shelled out another 30 or more minutes to go over Roku or the Solstice.

The dialogue also felt weird, mostly the girl who played Katara's, did not care for her at all.

Also, do not care for how Aang apparently feels that being the Avatar is srs bsns now, is nothing like how he acts in the show.

All in all though, the movie was just "alright." Not the travesty that Dragonball Evolution was, not very good, but meh, seen worse.

Pretty much my same complaints, it was extremely rushed, should have made this flick closer to 3 hrs.

Acting and dialogue were silly, laughable at some parts. Though to be fair, animation had this too.

Most of the action scenes were awkward, though passable.

As in the animation, my favorite character was Iroh, guy who played him did a good job portraying the general-warrior who's lost his will for battle. I do wish the guy was a bit fat though.

Definitely not what I feared, that it would be on the likes of GI JOE or Clash of The Titans, nonsense jelled together with cheesy actions scenes, ie complete shit.

All in all, it was an okay adaptation, not spot-on and much was left out, but the rushing is to blame. Hopefully M. Night will get figure this out and push for a longer movie so more of the 'books' can be taken in.

Forgot to add that.

Eye-Row was actually pretty well-played relative to everyone else, yeah.

Edit: Also, apparently, M. Night's original script was pretty much the whole season... And was about seven hours long. The creators of the show got him to shorten it.

Oh, and Aasif Mandvi, the Indian guy from the Daily Show, plays Zhao. Which admittedly made me lol when I saw him.

Fire nation seemed to consist of Indians, Arabs and Persians.

Makes sense as Aang is a whiteboy and Kara and Sokka were like...indians or Native Americans. Almost all fire nation looked white, though, in the cartoon, but they are suppoed to be giant nations that encompass the whole world...so I'd expect the largest nation to have the most "race" diversity.

Still, I don't understand why people whined about having too much "whitey" in this movie. Makes no sense to me that they would complain when almost every last person in the show was white, minus the water tribes.

I thought he did an okay job. Once I got past my memories of him on the daily show, I realized he actually isn't bad at playing the bad guy. The way he died was really scary, and probably the best part of the movie.

They were supposed to be Asian, everyone just looks white in anime lol

just got back from seeing this

AND IT TOTALLY ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!
dont care what everyone else thinks, i thought it was amaz-z-ing
yes, it felt rushed, especially at the beginning, and i wouldve liked Sokka and Aang to be more like in the show all jokey and whatnot, plus it was weird to hear them mispronounce a lot of the names, but considering that there's 20 episodes in book one, and each episode is divised into 3 eight minute parts[learned that from the Avatar Extras ] thats roughly 8 hours of plot they had to cram into an hour and fourty-three minute film, i think they did excellent
and i swear Commander Zhao was my doctor no expression
on a final note... i cant wait to see Toph, and i hope she brings some comedy to the group
