people forget though, that the world of Avatar is just that... the whole world
so just because the cartoon is drawn in Anime form, doesnt mean theyre all Asian
the most Asian of the nations is the Earth Kingdom, theyre most based on countries like China while the Fire Nation takes up most of the western hemisphere, so they could be considered the Americas of the world... i think

Who, the fire nation? Based on eye shape, the fire nation look like a bunch of white people. In animation, Asian's always have big and round eyes... non Asian's have narrow eyes.

since the Fire Nation is centered around an archipelago of tropical volcanic islands, youd think of them more as Pacific Islanders or something
yes the Air Nomads are based off of the Tibetans, even down to how they determine who is the Avatar once the cycle comes to them
the Water Tribe is obviously Native American in origin especially their worship of the wolf[all the warriors clothes and facepaint is to resemble a wolf]
You'd think so, but I was told by one of the shows consultant, Kisu to be precise that Fire nation was supposed to be Korea, not in geopgraphy obviously but in who they are.

Pretty sure the peoples in the cartoon aren't supposed to be any particular culture and the lands are fictional. Sure it's influenced by Asian themes throughout, but the characters vary, even within tribes.
The only thing I knew was based on IRL stuff directly was the bending, Firebending was Shaolin Kung-Fu, Earthbending was Hung Gar, Waterbending was Tai Chi, and I cannot remember wtf Airbending was.

found out why they changed the pronunciation of some of the names
thats how they pronounce the names in Asian
Aang sounds like Ong
Sokka like Soaka
Iroh like Eeroh
and last night in the episode Seige of the North, the douche who was marrying Yue pronounced Sokka's name as Soaka

If you go into this movie with no previous knowledge about the characters or the story... it's still pretty bad. . The visuals were the only saving grace. My niece and nephew who are 11 and 10 even thought it was bad; that's saying a lot considering the 10 year old is entertained by bubble wrap.
