I'm sooooo tired of this "he had to put 20 episodes into one movie" defense going on for him, like that somehow excuses him for getting bad actors, making bending look like crap, altering the characters personalities, and changing incredibly important aspects of the series that he had no need to change. In fact maybe he could have put more character development in if he hadn't filled the movie with so much unnecessary crap.

Air- Mixed Race, but mostly caus.
Fire- Mostly dark-haired white, but probably mixed due to their large geographic size. There are definitely Asian, though...just that most are white.
Water- Native American.
Earth-Asian and cauc.
There will always be fans whining that character A has a wrong hairdoo and that character B should be taller, but the movie was actually ok. Not perfect but ok. All the 1 on 1 h2h fights were great and fun to watch. Can't say the same about bending though. It was kinda slow and because of it seemed useless. 10 guys dancing step for a minute just so they could launch some tiny brick? What I liked about the movie - Most of the time when they make books/comics/cartoons adaptations they erase lots of scenes that were important in the show but might look ridiculous in the movie. Well, it wasn't the case here, most of those important scenes were just like in the cartoon and somehow managed to not look stupid on the big screen. Kid that played Aang fits the part and acts fine. Im only upset they depowered firebenders so much.
Also id love to have MoMo as my pet.

The acting was alright, though it kinda seemed awkward at times. Though, I would contribute this to the screenplay more than anything, which had some odd wording that didn't even really reflect the anime tv show.
But the special fx were great, action scenes were plentiful and awesome, and the plot was interesting. Music was alright too (I don't know if anyone noticed). An alright film.
i just saw this at the $2 movies, and i still feel like it was a waste of money and time.. if it was casted differently, then maybe the movie would've been better.. m.night smegmalyan f*cked this one up royally.. the only thing i liked about this movie was the special fx.. plus i found it really funny when [SPOILER - highlight to read]: the dragon told ang that he could defeat the fire nation with water.. DUH!
It's one of the worst-reviewed films of the year, everyone pretty much hated it, apparently it butchered what was good about the cartoon and is a waste of time, money and resources.
I've got a friend who for a time, refused to look at the cartoon because she saw the movie.
I saw it online and even though I didn't spend any money, I wanted my time back.
A bunch of innacuracies were put in it because Shaymalan felt like it worked better.
Names were messed up....Hell, even Aang's Airbending was severely powered down. Took him like 5 minutes to do an attack, and then someone might get blown 10 feet away if they're lucky.
Overall.....I hated it, nothing good about it....except maybe Momo.
