Nice to see nobody dare refute the evidence I provided Re: Quentin's "originality".

Score one for the good guys.

In my opinion Equilibrium is the best film ever made. Not only from a film goers point of view but also as a Literature and Psychology student.

Awesome, if you haven't seen it... Do. If you see it and think its a Matrix rip off... I'll set the Tetragrammaton on you.

43 out of 55 votes in this poll picked "other"

Think about it, what does that tell you about polls??

Right, I have this really bad habit of shooting my mouth off when it comes to HACK directors like "Q.T.".

Where do I begin..

Pulp Fiction - Adapted from the Pulp crime television shows and comic books of the mid 40's + 50's.

Reservoir Dogs - Entire story lifted from Japanese action film w/ Chow Yung Fat called "City on Fire". See IMDB.com for details.

From Dusk Til Dawn - Vampire movies done 100 times over.

True Romance - Rip off of TWO movies. "Bad Lands" and "Murder in the Heartland". One of Fairuza Balk's 1st movies.

Natural Born Killers - Same as above

Jackie Brown - Ripped straight out a book entitled "Rum Punch" by Elmore Leonard.

Kill Bill - Lift from a movie called "The Bride Wore Black", along with some out of place "homage" to martial arts films.

Just because he adds his special blend of excessant gore and trash dialogue doesn't make these his fims.

He's an unoriginal hack. Perhaps you should read up on him before you step up to the plate for him?

Couldn't have said it better myself. I have the same opinion of Tarantino. The word "homage" is thrown around too much when it comes to his movies. It stops being an homage when you steal a lengthy scene shot for shot from an HK movie and then act as if the movie you stole from doesn't exist. Just recently in Bad Boys 2 I saw where Michael Bay stole the village destruction scene from Jackie Chan's Police Story. Same camera angles and everything. It wasn't as long as Tarantino's plagiarized "City on Fire" ripoff but I couldn't help but notice it and be disgusted by it because the average moviegoer knows nothing about the HK genre these hacks are stealing their ideas from. Just once in the credits I would like to see a line like "Special thanks to ------- for inspiring the making of this movie".

Ah, the weekly "What's the Best Movie" thread....

Ok, to answer your question plain and simple: River's Edge, the 1987 dark film starring Keanu Reeves, Ione Skye, Crispin Glover, and Dennis Hopper.

No, I don't like the Matrix and am not a Keanu fan. I'm just talking about River's Edge here.

Speaking of which, your avatar kind of looks like Tim, one of the kids in River's Edge.

matrix isnt a copy of jet li.. maybe some action but matrix is more about the story and what they did for FX shots.. if you go to imdb the godfather is rated the highest of any movie all time and thats thousands of votes so i suppose it wins might not be your favorite though

Impossible question to answer, really. There are so many things to account for. Genre, popularity, story, acting, camerawork, originality, etc, etc........Far too many factors to take in to even begin to make a reasonable decision
