Please point out that part where Odin says he can't beat Thanos without using gungnir.

Great way to avoid the question! I think you missed your calling in politics.

He may or may not have needed to use Gungnir, but it certainly was meant to make his job easier. That much I think we can conclude.

As for whether or not Odin was jobbing, I will not go so far as to say jobbing, but I reckon it was a matter of evantuality rather than a lack of trying. Thanos arguably possesses skyfather level durability but without an offence on the same consistent level, so being unable to put him down easily is the norm, rather than the exception.

Odin still takes this 10/10.

I never meant to imply that he would be able to beat Thanos easily, just that the power Odin used in this fight doesn't come close to what he's used in his best feats.

Because it is easier, which says one of two things, either that Odin was finding it harder than he thought, or that he had a nordic maiden in his quarters and wanted to finish the fight fast. I gravitate towards the first point, which doesn't put Odin down at all. It's the same with a fly-swatter. I am perfectly capable of killing a fly -- the device simply makes it easier.

Fair enough, I'm just saying that if we put aside Odin's best showing with Set, it isn't implausible that he had some trouble on his average showings. The fact that he put SS down that easily shows that Thanos is pretty tough too. He would still win in the long run, and I think we both think pretty similarly, and are just approaching the conclusion differently. thumb up

Because, I reckon, that he had just put SS down, and did not expect Thanos to be that much more durable than SS. It may be more covenient, but you still don't take a musket to a butterfly, at least not at once.

i agree odin wins, but not easily.
plus with recant upgrades since this fight, imo thanos could stalemate odin.

Odin can draw power from all the denizens of Asgard to boost his already considerable might to new levels.

odin would beat thanos.......thanos fully powered ..could take odin ...i think ......however odin from old would beat thanos fully charged...was odin offically depowered by marvel writers?...like beyonder...because odin of old was way more powerful...than this one...although i believe when thor obtains odin power he says that he didn't realise that odin was so powerful

cheers

Hello all...

Well seeing as Thanos has ended up receiving yet another upgrade, via the Thanos Imperative (not to mention Odin has had a couple recent battles as well) how does this confrontation go down... Same stipulations as b4....
Let's keep it civil people, please no name calling, trolling, or baiting- Thanks!
