Gladiator was less powerful than normal at the time. It took him 2 minutes (at full speed) to fly from coast to coast.

He could, potentially, get strong enough to.

However, since he lacks flight capabilities, he wouldn't be able to go into space to grab the lasso to pull the Earth. erm
