Think of it, at first, Wolverine fights a formidable foe like New Goblin. How do you think he'll win with half an hour rest against someome much weaker than him, someone he could beat at normal capacity, like Kraven?
Venom and Carnage aren't the only ones on this list who could give Wolverine trouble.
He's not particularly well-suited to fighting the goblins, for one. Their MO is to zip around in the air and carpet-bomb their opponents, which makes them tricky for melee fighters who lack range or flight. Their weapons could or could not prove effective on him, depending on which Wolverine shows up.
Electro could be a problem, given that Wolverine is especially conductive and Electro is an area-of-effect range fighter. Especially if Electro is written like he was back when he fought Spidey and Nate Grey, using his powers competently and effectively.
