When it comes to overall stories, DC takes this hands down. That's assuming we're counting Vertigo and some of Wildstorms classic runs like Authority and Planetary. I don't think anyone would argue that.

Sales is a whole new beast. Marvel usually has DC beat. But back in the day, DC was ahead. Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel, etc...

Image is coming up. I've read a lot of cool stories from them and prefer IMAGE over Marvel. Girls, Invincible, and Walking Dead are all better than Marvel's high end books.

Marvel right now has a story with a Hulk beating down Cosmic Gods and beating down Thor with Mjolnir, and a little while ago another Hulk nearly sank the east coast with a footstep.

I would say Marvel can be every bit as ridiculous as DC.
