Secondly - Yes. He caught a bullet. I saw the movie. I read the graphic novel.
I also saw V for Vendetta - and a scene where he fought across a (room-sewer-chamber?) and killed a squad of (cops? soldiers?) all before they could reload their weapons.

He killed them in the time it took them to reload their weapons true, but it seemed like in most of that time they were just gawping at him. Only a handful actually reloaded, and he threw things at those. So yeah, he's fast, but he's not as fast as Ozymandias.
Ozymandias catching a bullet was impressive. But how does it really rank as a speed feat? Seems more like a quick reflex feat. He can close his hand really fast.
V was moving around slicing and dicing all at high speeds.
Ah, come on, dude. You're short-changing Ozy, big time. In order for Ozy to move at the speed he did, relative to the speed of the bullet, puts his speed waaaaaaaaaaaaay above human. On top of this, having to clench his hand as fast as he did puts his speed waaaaaaay above human.

Anyways, I'm not selling him short. It was impressive. I sure as shit couldn't catch a bullet. And it took speed sure. But why does that make him super ridiculously faster than V? I didn't see Ozy actually MOVE super fast during the movie - at least not as fast as V did during that final fight scene.

Yes. It implies that the speed of Ozy is on scale with the speed of the bullet. On scale implies that it is close like a third the speed, half the speed, etc.
I use "relative" alot because it's the most appropriate way to use the word, at the time of use. There are other words I could use, but it would require:
1. More words to say the same.
2. Another word that doesn't actually capture the point as well as "relative."
3. For me to use another word when talking about speed/velocity in which, relative is and should be used.
I think you're stating this due to the ambiguity of the use. For me, that's not the case. When used for objects in motion, that means that the speed of one can be expressed in a fraction with integers, both numerator and denominator, in single digit whole numbers with a ratio of 1/9 or greater.
Here's why: The did it on Myth Busters with an arrow. They had to make the hand close like.....5-times faster than a highly trained martial artist. I can't remember it properly, but I think it was 5-times faster. The arrow flies around 200fps (maybe 240). That's about 140 MPH.
The handgun bullet that the assassin fired most likely traveled between 1100-1500 feet per second.
That means that a human hand (professional level)can close fast enough to catch something that is roughly 5 times slower than an arrow. We'll say something that travels at 40 FPS is around Peak human speed to catch an arrow. If you want to go higher, we can go to 50 FPS, but that's pushing the velocity of an arrow a bit much. (From the type of bow and arrows used in Myth Busters, that is.)
Knowing that, we can figure out how much faster Ozy is than a peak human. We simply divide the peak speed for human reaction time by the peak speed of Ozy's reaction time.
Here we go:
1100/40=27.5 times faster.
Let's go high end, now:
1500/50 = 30 times faster.
So, we can say that Ozy is, at least, 27-30 times faster than a human.
But, that's not all of it.
The arrow, when caught in that super machine, took a tad bit to slow down, once caught. It traveled a short distance inside the hand while it closed all the way. The hand had to be timed properly to catch the arrow, which is superhuman, in and of itself.
On top of this, the bullet is MUCH smaller than an arrow. It is almost invisible to the human eye...unless you use tracer rounds at night or some shite.
There is not telling how much faster one would have to be to catch a bullet fired at almost muzzle velocity versus catching an arrow, at the same speed. His vision, alone, would have to be superhuman to see that.

Justed wanted to bump this thread to say that if Ozy is fast enough to catch/dodge bullets, logically he can dodge anything below that speed. This is confirmed by him catching Comedian's thrown meat cleaver. I give him the better odds in the all out melee.
