Superman battles his way all the way to Final Thanos. Superman is beginning to get worried because while all the Thanos' so far seemed much too easy for the all powerful Kryptonian, he did notice they were getting stronger. Now he faces the final and likely the most powerful one. Just before the fight starts Kal notices Thanos' health bar keeps rising well past what it should contain and is changing colors. All his years on the farm playing video games tells him this is going to be the fight of his life.
After the health bar filled beyond reason, Clark hears a very deep voice shout "FIGHT!". During the first and second fight that voice startled him and gave Thanos an early advantage. After that though, Kent was able to blitz his opponent as soon as the match started bringing a swift end to the Mad Titan. This time would be no different he told himself.
The Last Son of Krypton launched himself at the purple giant immediately and plunged his fist into Thanos' heart. This was enough to fell the giant in the past and this time seemed to be no different. Thanos dropped to one knee. The Man of Steel was preparing to finish up with his all mighty heat vision when Thanos began to speak. Hesitating, Kal listened close, fully expecting a trap. "You...... You should have gone for the head...."
Clark realized his error a moment too late. Thanos snapped his gloved fingers and immediately Superman began to disintegrate. He looked down at his hand and saw it slowly turning into what looked like ash. His arm followed. Then the rest of his body........
Thanos smiled. He had won. Finally he was rid of this annoying alien. He watched as the Kryptonian slowly began to disappear. Suddenly, as if powered by the cries of fanboys everywhere, Superman started to reconstitute himself. Ash started flying back towards him, reassembling his body. Thanos stood in awe. Clearly this being was well beyond the power of the Infinity Gauntlet. Thanos fell to his knees in defeat as Superman fully formed. As Superman stood over his piss soaked body, Thanos handed over the Infinity Gauntlet. "Take it Master, it's rightly yours." Superman smiled "No my purple friend, your mitten would only weaken me"
Superman then ripped off Thanos' head and shoved it up his ass.
No, Superman loses hard. He wasn’t strong enough to really harm or critically injure Steppenwolf and hasn’t displayed the strength necessary to rattle Thanos. Thanos wins.
when supes says "is this guy still bothering you" that shows how powerful he's become. All through his fight with steppenwolf, he was just toying with him...remember his headbutt made diana smash the ground.
