I really didn't like Captain America or The Incredible Hulk. Also, the key phrase there is: "some of the best superhero movies." They're still silly superhero movies.
Man, do I disagree with that. Yeah, they have superheroes. You know what else they have? Great characterization, beautiful effects sequences, great action, good dialogue, and thrilling moments that balance both humor and drama. I call that good movies.
And yes, the Superhero genre has progressed to the point where they are legitimately good movies. Dark Knight, Watchmen and Kickass are brilliant movies period imo.
I mean that it would be pretty hard to explain his powers without them. You can't really just say that he has the powers of the Fantastic Four without the Fantastic Four present. And if they did mention them then you're stuck wondering where they are. Just too awkard imo. But maybe the movie will surprise me.
Ehehe, what would you have instead? I guess Iron Man is pretty good...
Gender: Male Location: Balls deep in your cerebral cortex
This plays into the reason i always wanna know if all the Marvel movies take place in the same universe, at the same time. This seems to be a huge invasion so it would make no sense that none of the other heroes show up to help... Spidey, the X-men, Ghost Rider.
That's just another good reason why not to have him as one of the main villains. Just doesn't "feel" right. Maybe for Fantasic 4: 3 (don't hate me...I liked both doughs moovees!)
Captain American was good, for sure. Maybe even great but it doesn't get my top 5 spot.
Here's my Top 5:
Dark Knight
Watchmen
Kickass
Spiderman 1
Spiderman 2
It was hard to choose between Spiderman 1 and X-men 2. Dark Knight and Watchmen are easy easy choices. Kickass gets a top 5 spot for be thoroughly enjoyable and still being a decent "hero" flick (RIP, Big Daddy ) So it is down to the Spiderman's. I think Spiderman was the first "awesome" Super Hero movie after 2000 and it set the pace. I mean the first truly awesome one. Before that...we'd have to go as far back as 1989 to witness a truly awesome super hero film: Batman. But back on topic...I like the Spiderman 1 and 2 films better than the X-men 1 and 2 films. Sure, they are all great but Spiderman 1 and 2 edge out over the first 2 X-men movies, imo.
I could make a list but it would take ages. This new film better be at least a 7 on my scale up to 10. It can still be an 8 or a 9 but I might be expecting too much out of it.
Gender: Male Location: In Luna's mane, chasing STAAARS!
I always thought they were in the same universe and only thought the only reason other heroes are never shown is because the movie has to focus on the protagonists due to the film's namesake but IMO, it wouldn't hurt showing some of them just as long as they aren't focused on too much.
