They better be. As it is, it's absolutely ridiculous even if they are are "alive" and therefore "hard to hold". Hell, he easily blocked some spears earlier by levitating a boulder not sure why he was incapable of doing something similar again.
Regardless, Yoda being captured by a tribe of feral kids is asinine. Hell, we give Dooku shit for being captured by pirates this is just an entirely new level of embarrassing.
Well Yoda isn't wanting to fight/harm them either, so I mean there's nothing really he can do...although still it does seem that these stones are Force tuned or something...though frankly even if Yoda is holding back and not wanting to fight, him getting captured or hit with one of those stones does seem kinda stupid.
They are. Context considered, this is far from an 'embarrassing' showing.
Yoda repeatedly stated that these blue stones are not only alive, but VERY powerful with the force as well -- to the point where they appeared highly resistant to his TK, and seemed to drain him of the force(or somesuch) with a slight touch... This is clearly not something that Yoda had even so much as heard of(let alone encountered) beforehand, which also says quite a bit. Moreover, he sensed that the planet literally *wanted* to tear itself apart -- so there is also a much deeper story at play here...
*The boulders Yoda levitated to block their melee weaponry were not of the same type of mineral as the blue stones/weapons -- that's why his TK was still effective on them.
He is seen blocking some rocks with his TK so they are clearly not immune to his TK just more difficult to block. What I was getting at with the boulder was why he didn't rip up some more stone to block the rocks like he did earlier.
Regardless, seeing Yoda captured by feral kids is ridiculous, no matter the circumstances. I am not a fan of any character, especially one as venerable and powerful as Yoda, humiliated like this.
I honestly don't see why you think this reflects so poorly on Yoda..? He is up against living/sentient stones(and evidently a living/sentient planet as well) that is not only VERY strong with the force, but also seems to emit some kind of 'null-field' that diminishes the f*ck out of his TK, AND seems to weaken him tremendously with a slight touch as well. Furthermore, this is not something that Yoda even knew existed, thus he obviously doesn't know how to overcome these effects at the moment.
If Superman were ambushed, and subsequently beaten by, some random villain wielding Kryptonite, I certainly wouldn't consider it a low(much less 'humiliating') showing for him... Especially if it were the first time he'd ever faced Kryptonite.
We will see if it actually weakens his force powers. Though, if it does, I have a problem with that as well. I've always hated the idea of Ysalamiri; I'd hate for canon to have some version of it.
As for you analogy, if Superman had his ass beat by some kids armed with Kryptonie it may not be a low showing. However, it certainly would be a humiliating defeat.
A stone tapped his hand and he was insta-KO'd for an unknown amount of time. Couple that with the fact that he is also being held captive by shackles forged from this mineral, and the heavy implication is that it weakens him to *some* extent, imo. /shrug
Anyway, we'll see how this turn of events pans out in the next issue. As of now, however, I certainly do not think it diminishes Yoda in the slightest, nor am I unhappy with the story itself. After all, before this side-story was published, the writer told us that it wasn't *just* going to center around force-God Yoda doing force-God things -- it would also detail his 'fallibility' and such. That said, I am actually quite eager to see how things flesh-out from here.
So yeah, it would seem that these 'stones' have some sort of inherent organic resistance to conventional force users. As Yoda proved, however, that 'weakness' against the stones can be overcome with a bit of training.
