Well I haven't so I'm calling this a Shaak Ti super-stomp.
Anyway, didn't Luke fight that KOTOR era jedi one time and he was so bad she either laughed or simply questioned wether he was an actual jedi. Best of PT my butt.
Ready to face him and being powerful enough to kill him are not the same thing. Luke was ready to face his father and try to redeem him but he wasn't powerful enough to kill him if Vader's goal was to kill him. Luke notes this later on after the battle of endor.
EDIT: I agree with Exodus(wow) ROTJ Luke is screwed vs Shaak Ti.
No i don't think Luke was actually powerful enough to kill him, but Yoda and Obi Wan must have thought he had chance. Yoda and Obi Wan did not see Vader as redeemable, only Luke did.
Luke: "I can not kill my own father."
Obi Wan: "You can not escape your destiny."
This tells us that Obi Wan had great confidence in the boy.
k ROTJ luke was sent by yoda and old ben to kill vader. TYoda believes that once you go down the dark path that you cannot be redeemed he even says this in ESB.
yes, they do believe Luke can beat vader because they believe him to be a lot weaker than he really is in his suit.(GL even says this in the commentary of ESB)
Also It doesn't matter if Vader says Luke is the Best of the PT jedi because Luke Isn't a PT jedi.
Old ben even says that he isn't the last of the jedi but the first if the new
as for the actual fight Shaak i takes all three easily.
But yeah, if we were to say Luke was that good, then that would just throw the already TFU-induced messed up continuity outta whack even further. If Luke can beat Vader as Galen beat Vader, then where the hell are Luke's awesome powers of telekinesis and lightning and sabers and everything else? Puh-chya.

because he's more machine than human they believe his connection to the force is alot weaker than it is or somethin like that GL makes a comment in the ESB commentary
Of course, his potential was greatly reduced. He still had 80% the strength of Sidious, which is pretty powerful. Vader was far from weak. In ESB Yoda describes Vader as being powerful.
