Blasters make smoke in OT but not in PT?

Blasters make smoke in OT but not in PT?

In episode IV everytime they use a blaster it makes smoke, burns through stormtroopers' armor, etc. but in episodes 1 through 3, thery're not only smaller, but there's no smoke and no wounds. What's up with that?

hmm... maybe it's like with the lightsabers were. they started out big and heavy and went on into more fluid and graceful strokes. maybe it went from gun-like to laser-like...

This was why the lightsaber duel in Episode IV was based more on fencing style stuff, right? It wasn't until Empire Strikes Back GL changed his mind on how heavy the lightsabers were...I think...
