She's only 11, and she's one of the best actresses of our generation. From I Am Sam to Uptown Girls to War of the Worlds.

Wow!

What do you guys think, especially in War of the Worlds. She was AMAZING!

I wasn't impressed with her at all in "War of the Worlds", honestly. She didn't even have that many speaking lines on which to judge her, she just seemed bratty, and was relegated to an immature role that made her seem younger than she's capable of portraying. Almost..babyish.

Oh, no. Not another disaster movie with kids!! Babyish kids, nonetheless - apparantly.

Can't they make one $150 million dollar movie with a cutoff age of 22????

I was blown away by her acting when I saw her in "Taken" and in everything I've seen her in since then... yes

The episode of 'CSI' she was in and 'I am Sam' especially.

Haven't seen War of the Worlds yet but am really looking forward to seeing it.

She really is so talented for her age, and her lil sis elle is following in her footsteps too.

I noticed her teeth at the awards too, she has braces so obviously we're not the only ones who noticed something was wrong laughing out loud

but she's only a kid... plenty of time to get them sorted. smile

And what is she capable of? What are her credentials?

I saw the movie last night and indeed she was very immature and bratty.

Alright, I looked up her resume and I will admit she was excellent in Man on Fire. When I say excellent, please keep in mind that I'm also referring to someone who is only a few years removed from tinker toys.

While I liked the movie, her performance in War of the Worlds was awful, and was a major step backwards from doing so well in Man on Fire.

And knowing Hollywood, I'm sure in a couple of years she will unfortunately be playing some 13-year old hooker who turns tricks for the high school football team. Sad.

even though shes young and all shes a very good actress. she has come out in a lot of movies, tv shows etc. I enjoy watching her everytime.

I just heard this amazing fact:

Having Dakota Fannings name attached to a film is already enough to get it's financial backing... only a few A-List Actors have that power.
