Title says it all: Who is the strongest character to appear in SSBB? I'm asking more or less for a ranking system which I've seen in Vs Forums before.
Example
1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Ice Climbers.
I don't mean in terms of tiers either because those are decided via game mechanics and more importantly the player playing.
Stipulations
The characters only get the weapons, spells, abilities, and so on that is given to them in this game. For instance Megaman has a plethora of powerups but not all of them were used. Same with Mario's items, Pokemon moves, Samus's different stuff, and Ganondorf's magic spells. If they can't do it in the game, they can't here.
That being said their physical attributes like speed, strength, agility, dexterity, intelligence, overall spell potency, and so on are from their home games. For instance Ganondorf is as fast as his game counterpart, not his slow SSB counterpart. Same with Sonic's strength, Mario's intelligence, and Robin's spells.
Now the series has a ton of items from various games, like the Warp Star and Pokeballs. They don't count(because otherwise Pokemon Trainer wins pretty much everytime) so forget about them. The Smash Ball on the other hand is a different story. For sake of simplicity just assume the Smash Ball is a move that can be activated whenever and that the time limits in the game for transformations are the equivalent. Characters like Olimar, Fox, and Captain Falcon get their vehicles since they have them both for smashs and in cutscenes. The Final Smashes must also work how they work in the game. For instance Snake gets a helicopter but that doesn't mean he is actually driving it, just using it as a means of firing weapons from above.
Final Smashes like Robin's, Megaman's, and are disqualified since they bring in additional fighters. The Pokemon Trainer and Olimar are fine since their creatures are basically slaves and that is the point.
Versions and Canon Counterparts
For their gear and stuff you should use their most recent Smash appearance. Ice Climbers of instance were in two games but you use Brawl cause it is the more recent appearance. Same with Pit-Smash 4 version. For simplicity use the standard moveset, not any of the custom moves like, say, Kirby's Freeze breath.
As for the canon versions, depends on the character. Characters like Pac-Man and Game & Watch should get all appearances because pre-8 bit era was not exactly feat central. Characters like Sonic, Samus, Megaman and Mario also get all appearances since they don't change really. Little Mac and Link however are basically retelling of the same story several times so best use the version Smash is likely influenced by, meaning Wii-Punch Out and TP for instance. I'll clarify what versions of other characters will be used if it is brought up but I dunno all of them.
Characters like Zelda and Samus are split into two as of the most recent game and can't change forms. ZS Samus gets the ship, not regular Samus.
Final Notes
I would like for this thread to be more than just looking for the strongest. Truth be told I might have an inkling for who that is already. I just wanna know how they would overall stack against one another and learn more about obscurer characters. For all I know Shulk might be the actual strongest(I really don't know tihs guy). This will, ideally, be a thread that can gather the information of all these characters and put them against the others for interesting discussion(Megaman vs Bowser, Donkey Kong vs Ganondorf, Fox vs Samus, so on so forth). Just because you think you've go the strongest that doesn't mean you know the lower tiers as well.
Mind you the weakest character is probably R.O.B since he doesn't really have a game. He is a plastic toy. Any of the characters could logically kill him. Dems the breaks.
Anyway, hopefully this thread doesn't break any rules. Happy ranking.
He is a fast hedgehog and that's all there really is about him. Stab him he'd bleed, punch him he'd get a black eye. I haven't really played the newer games but as far as I can tell he's only an OP Super Saiyan at times because of magical items.
A lot of shit has happened with Sonic recently that I don't really know about did the writing staff at Sega decid to become Marvel and join the Who can create Biggest Penis Competition?
According to the pokedex Charizard's fire can melt any material, so that shoud make him quite a threat. It's also quick at that, since it can melt 10,000 tons of ice in a short timeframe.
1. I think they're referring to Mammoth Mogul.
2. Do you actually have this game, or did you look up most of the information? If you have it, I'd like to add you.
3. Let me just say that I applaud the intention of this thread, and I'll contribute to it when I'm best able.
Pikmin are too small to matter in this battle and Olimar's ship is ridiculously small. However, it has nifty features such as an infinite energy engine and defensively it can defend itself from extreme temperatures. I'd say Olimar in his ship could punk any Pokemon other than Charizard, since they shouldn't be able to harm then, and the ship should mess them up because being so small it'd be difficult to locate and should pierce into their skulls if it comes to that.
I agree. Hopefully the thread will get more info amalgamated for the characters.
Since Mewtwo is on his way that should work. Not using anime feats though right? Cause anime Mewtwo is kinda tough.
I know very little of the Pikmin series but I figured he would benefit from getting his ship. Which is one of my favorite items(filthy casual).
1. For some reason I was thinking of Taboo. Dunno much Sanic.
2. I have it for 3DS. Don't expect a very good fight though. I'm a dirty casual.
3. Thank ya!
Also, the Fire Emblem characters should be inferior to Pokemon for having more realistic limitations and worse range (except Robin, but he/she doesn't have great speed feats as far as the story goes, I can see Pikachu winning on the draw). They'd be ranked as:
Robin (ranged advantage)
Ike (by far the most powerful fighter in-universe)
Lucina/Marth (about even as none has feats independant from their Falchion)
Roy (has nothing going on for him or whatsoever, at least the others have special battle styles. However I haven't yet finished his game to be sure he doesn't pull off weird stuff by the end -I doubt it-)
The Falchion is blessed to hurt dragons, it's a powerful weapon on it's own right, but it's not on par with the Ragnell. Ike has the best feat in the canon which is killing a goddess with that sword, most other heroes have fought ancient dragons or demons.
"The Daemon lied with every breath. It could not help itself but to deceive and dismay, to riddle and ruin. The more we conversed, the closer I drew to one singularly ineluctable fact: I would gain no wisdom here."
It is Solaris. Sonic had help from Shadow and Silver but still, being a fraction of a Dimension-Eater's power is pretty impressive. In the fight, Eggman clearly says "Be careful, this thing eats DIMENSIONS for BREAKFAST!!!!" I'd also like to point out they didn't kill him, but they DID defeat him.
