Well that certainly raises more questions than it answers.

I remember when this was first brought up in TFN forums.

Regardless, glad to see it isn't a continuty error and was intended. But so much for Maul being Sidious's successor eh? Sidious already has Maul's replacement and this replacement is currently setting up the Clone Wars.

There's no proof Sidious already intended to replace Maul at that point.

The Dooku and Sifo Dyas thing from the sounds of it is something that Sidious did not plan on, but as usual took full advantage of it by turning Dooku to the dark side and having him kill and "become" Sifo Dyas and get this army ordered on behalf of the Republic and the Jedi.

Don't forget Maul did have a decent idea himself about Sidious's grander plans: "So it happened, and without me.."

Obviously Sidious would have to choose between them at some point, but there's nothing to say he would have definitely chosen Dooku over Maul had Maul not been sliced in 2.

It just means that Maul and Dooku were pawns in Sidious's game: inferior in all ways.

Except in Looks, Charm and Overall Coolness.

Oh and they completely lacked Sidious's creepy Pedo vibe he gives off.

laughing out loud

That you find two lame Unwitting Pawns cooler than a Big Bad Badass Chessmaster Magnificent Bastard ( to borrow TVTrope terminology) is an indictment of your taste.

If Maul would've survive after TPM, Probably Maul would become Dooku's master, and Palpatine would play the role of Plagueis as a secret master in AotC.

Or Dooku was just a Dark Jedi tool for the Sith, but after Maul died he become the real apprentice.

Except Maul had the potential to become a ''rival'' to Sidious. Otherwise Sidious wouldn't steal him from Mother Talzin.

Oh how nice, and now, there is Mother Talzin as well. Dooku - Maul - Mother Talzin - Plagueis

Everything here is just ****ed up now, though it was very nice in TPM just that two sith only as they showed up in the actual TPM Movie.

The Dooku/Sifo Dyas thing kind of came to him as far as I'm aware from Filoni's commentary.

So Maul was trained as a possible future replacement for Sidious, but after he converted Dooku and got Dooku to sort out this clone army, chances are Sidious was probably deciding which one of those 2 he'd keep.

Anyway what I'm more curious about is if Dooku was aware of Maul at the time. He obviously knew about him after Qui-Gon's death, but what about before? Clearly Maul was not aware of Dooku.

Agreed. But Sidious cleans house in most categories people would consider to be indicative of a badass. He's smarter, stronger, faster, more knowledgeable, more skilled, more powerful, and more successful.

Tbh the only think Maul has on him is [arguably?] a more striking visceral image and Dooku's taller.

We all know Sidious is totes cooler bro.

I found every time Maul even spoke (by Witwer) to be cool as f***. His very presence was just complete Awesomeness. And he'd even become a Rival to Sidious by building up a huge army.

Not sure about the skill. Saber Skill I mean.

Dooku's perfected the most pure fencing style to it's apex, and Maul's Sword Fighitng skills have been praised as pretty perfect by Sidious himself.

It's force enhanced abilities that makes him better than them in Sabers Imho.
