Following the collapse of the Galactic Empire the fleet flees and ends up splitting apart
With the Emperor dead many factions start to arise. All fighting for power as everyone thinks they know what's best to lead the empire. Meanwhile the rebel alliance focuses on rebuilding the Republic
In time an extremist group arises called the New Order. The New Order lead by Jayden Solo (sorry if I misspelled that) start drafting in the remaining Imperial factions. Getting as many to join them and destroying those that refused.
Eventually they were back to full power and declared war on the Republic. This time trying to turn Luke evil after Mara Jade was killed. Ultimately his sister stopped him but they showed once again how weak the Republic is as well as how corrupted they are which would be soon evident when the Yuuzhan Vong invaded
