Not necessarily. Theoretically the main reason the Naboo elect young Queens is that they value innocence & emotional virtues over all other political characteristics. Going by that logic, its very likely that it may never have crossed the minds of the general public that anyone in power would be tricking them.....
(dont quote me on this, but I think the source for the Naboo's political rationale is the TPM visual dictionary)

I dont think that he's that old, and here's why. Look how much he's aged in the last movies. And we've seen tidbits of him from ROTS, he seems to be ageing normally. So why, if at least hundreds of years old, would he just start to age at a normal rate of speed? And before someone says, "well the actor is ageing and you cant hide that." thats true to an extent. He was plenty younger when he just played the Emporer before, and as far as looking younger, watch the movie "The Temptations", they made all those guys look younger, and if a VH1 type movie budget can afford make up to make someone look younger, im sure GL can afford it as well.
well hes aged like what.....20 years beore he did tpm? hes he only one that can pull off the emperor, young or old. i really, honestly dont believe that hes hundreds of yers old. you know what you look like when you use crack all of you life? its the same concept that i think that GL is trying to go for, in this case the darkside is the crack and because of him using it all of the time he turns disgusting (just like crack) but hes able to cover it up with the force somehow.

thats kinda what i said a LOOOONG time ago...the darkside just drains his lifeforce, while at the same time, gives him power to keep living. Like the force feeds off his body and his very being, so it makes him weathered looking, BUT at the same time, the darkside of the force gives him the overall power to stay alive and basically do IT'S bidding....destroy the lightside. I think its more than just good guys vs bad guys...i think its the l.side of the force vs the d.side of tghe force, and all the Jedi and Sith, are just merely "soldiers" of their respected sides, fighting FOR the force. Does that make sence to you all? Did i word it right?
"Partially...But it also obeys your commands...."
This is where it comes into the whole 'Living force' debate I guess..
Something that i'm sure GL said would be featured more in Ep3..
Last night I looked at the entry for Palpatine in the New Essential Guide to Characters book (which is based in part on EU sources) and it said that Palpatine took a bunch of immigrants to the planet Byss and drained their life energies using the dark side.
I just mention this because it's kind of interesting and ties in with the Palpatine-as-vampire idea.

There's a good case for Yoda making him look that way...consider that Yoda faces him and survives, meaning he can at least defend himself from Sidious' attacks....I think it may very well be a deflected Dark Side attack...
We have already seen Sidious' true appearance (he is Sidious when he talks to Maul in Ep 1 and when he talks to Dooku in Ep 2) so I think we can rule out that his true appearance is deformed....that much time doesn't pass between Ep 2 and Ep 3 (3 years?) for Sidious to look that much older....
Look for Yoda to damage him - drain some of his power? Absorb some sort of new force attack and send it back to Sidious? That's my bet...
maybe, there's endless ways that it could happen, so im counting on the fact that sidious gets really really drained trying to fight yoda and it makes his face look functafied

How come, if Palp's own reflected force lightning was responsible, then how come Luke didn't end up resembling a pinkish raisin at the end of ROTJ...? He got really good, sustained whupping from it and emerged looking as fresh as a daisy that had had a particularly good night's sleep afterwards...? ?
the answer to that is simple...its NOT palps' reflected force lightning that causes his deformation. not gonna happen. as far as the 'draining' theory...i guess its possible...but wouldnt that be so weak? the only way i can see something like this happening is if palps has to put so much power into fighting yoda that he is forced to drop his facade.
lets face it, yoda is going to have his ass handed to him. palps HAS to be invincible in ep3, its the only way to solidify the notion that vader is the one and ONLY person who is capable of killing him...or why the hell bother adding the whole messiah element to the plot?
also, i fully believe that palps will pretend to lose to mace, since he wants anakin to kill mace and thus turn to the darkside. i believe he knows that anakin is powerful enough to kill him, but on the other hand would make a perfect weapon against the jedi. the logical choice for him would have been to have dooku finish him in ep2, but palps is overconfident and reckless, so he takes the risk of allowing him to live and become vader. (off topic a bit, but i just felt like saying it )
That's totally the angle im coming from too...! It was some time before someone could or would answer that, and it turned out to be you Mr.PVS....Someone who holds the same theory on the matter...!
Beginning to think this idea is watertight, given that there seemingly is no other answer...! Or at least that no one else will or can contradict it Nice one...!!
