It is tied for my favorite with ROTJ followed by ESB, ANH, TPM and then AOTC.

Because it's... big? hehehehe, you're right though. Timing wise nothing fits well. If you see the CLone Trooper uniforms change so quickly in two years, they change very little in the next 20.... very odd. Even Padme has a hairstyle similar to Leia, a fashion statement to last 20 years.... yeah, sure.

They could just build the frame and wait until the time is right, or until it is needed to finish it.

the dialogue was cheesy, save for a few parts(obi, palps, yoda)

padme was AWFUL.

they could have extended a few scenes(grievous fight, wookiees, mace fight) and the lightsaber fights shuld have been shot differently, not so zoomed in.

other than that, the movie was friggin amaZing.

Good point about the zoomed in lightsaber fights. Sometimes it was just a blur of colour and it was hard to make out the moves they did.

In parts, though, the zooming in was good. I liked seeing the faces, especially Palpatine's. This movie was about emotion, thus the zooming in.

saw it like 3hrs ago....honestly...i was disappointed in parts, so here is my bitching: ( im just gonna copy straight from msn with Imag coz i cant be assed making a new one)

the opening space battle had me in tears...but it was too short...so i was disappointed

palpatine killing the 3 masters was too quick to see...another disappointement

palps face distortion...come on, they coulda done better

the duel...i thought there was no way they could feck that up...but feck off, they intercut it with yoda vs palps....which was also a disappointment

padme? what the feck is up with her? one minutes shes all 'i stand for what is right' then shes 'i didnt think you were bad anakin'
like, the dudes just killed off the jedi and come home and said palps is cool...and she fecking doesnt think something is up?

anakins dreams? wtf? GAY all over.

dooku...way too short...that jump he did to get down to obi and anakin? GAY

kashyyyk? way too short and chopped up.

and the sudden revolution of palpatine? jeez...one min hes all acting normal, the next hes announcing hes bad and everything to anakin...

theres my bitching. done.

the effects and cgi were top stuff...but meh, thats standard these days with big motion picture films.

and also, obiwan was a bit too sarcastic...like his scenes with grievous.

but thats my opinion, everyone has one, dont start bashing coz i dont care.

[edit] not my favourite star wars movie btw...

Anyone who's ever been in love can understand completely how that works.

and the sudden revolution of palpatine? jeez...one min hes all acting normal, the next hes announcing hes bad and everything to anakin...

it's part of Palpatine's strategy. He knows he's got Anakin, so it's time to come out with it. At this point all that's left to turn the kid is to actually tell him he's a Sith and invite him to join.

Haha, thanks. Nice to know someone wants to hear my opinion. Have you seen it yet? I still mean to post my review up soon, but for now here's some of my opinions of some of the stuff and the actors in the film:

While some parts of the film had massive amounts of just CG, which was overkill sometimes, at least it looked good this time around which I was impressed with. So its nice to cut away from a huge battle scene to a scene with like Anakin and Palpatine which were great, because (even the opera scene) they had cg and stuff going on in the background, but it focused on the characters and their dialouge, which the previous two prequels had never done. That's one thing that puts it far ahead of them. It's a lot more intimate while there is lots of battle scenes (reminds me of Return of the King). I don't think there was a bad shot of Yoda. All the shots of him seemed like the good shots from AOTC.

Ewan McGregor-Perfect. Dead on perfect. He has improved a huge amount in each film. In Episode 1, while he was still a good actor, he was reduced to the sidelines most of the time. But he still kicked ass and was cool. In Episode 2, his performance was all the more better, and became more of a master character, training Anakin. He did this perfectly, with more humor, and of course always kept Anakin in line. But he still continued to kick ass. Now in Episode 3, he again improved a considerable amount to joking around more, (the first 40 min or so of the film did for the first time a great job of showing that Anakin and Obi Wan were actually friends which made the end sader) and being more authoritive, and a perfect blend of character into what became Alec Guiness in A New Hope. And oh does he ever kick ass.

Hayden Christensen-Improved a HUGE amount. I think this also shows that part of what made him kind of bad in Episode 2, was the lines he had. Now he's got some good lines to work off, and he's got more emotions to play off. He does a very good job in my opinion. When he's supposed to be happy, sad, angry, he shows it, unlike his confused attitude in Episode 2, where he didn't quite know how to react to everything while filming on bluescreen. I think the word for it is that he has become more comfortable with the role.

As has:

Natalie Portman-She really has improved from the stiff, wooden acting she gave in the first two. While the first one you could pass off, since she was supposed to be Queen, in the second when we get emotional love scenes and battle scenes, she acts horribly wooden. (I think her looks make up for all the rest) In this she acts happy that she's going to have a baby, happy that maybe once and for all the Jedi will find out Anakin is the father, he will be expelled, and they can go live in peace on Naboo. While this is unrealistic, since Anakin obviously has commited himself to the Jed, its what she truly hopes for. When she's supposed to be sad or happy in this film, she actually delivers. Thank God.

What need is there to say anything about Ian McDarmid as the sick, twisted, Emperor Palpatine. He was great as the reviews said, and as I had guessed. I love how just demented he is in this one. Just totally insane. Some of the parts were cheesy yes, even a little of the makeup, there was something a little off, but it still fit how crazy he had become. And the Yoda/Emperor fight was amazing like people said. But I'm surprised, while it might have some better action (like the pods being thrown at Yoda), I think the Obi-Wan/Anakin battle was way better. And here's the reason: It was pretty much exactly how I pictured it, their interaction and dialouge with eachother was great and filled with emotion. It was all about their characters (wheras Yoda and Emperor were fun to watch, there wasn't any danger because you know both get away in the end) and yes, while you know Anakin eventually falls into the lava, its all how its played up to it. My heart was racing as I awaited the moment I had been waiting for ever since I saw the original films and heard rumors of how Anakin obtained his scaring. And I have to say, I wasn't let down. For such high expectations here, I was not let down. For the rest of this scene, nothing CG popped out at me, Anakin burning was HAPPENING. It didn't seem like an effect, it seemed real and just how I had imagined it. It may have been that I tried not to get too high expectations for this fight scene that lead me to like it so much, I don't know.

What I didn't like: I'll elaborate on this more later, but some things did just seemed crammed in at the last minute or some things were not played out as good as they could have been. But nothing too major-but a few things from keeping me from giving it ****.

Anyways, this is turning into a sort of review already, so I won't say anymore, even though there is a lot more to be said. Again, I will write up a more well written review of the overall film soon, and post it here. Please tell me your thoughts though.

Episode III was amazing, I really enjoyed it. The action was great. My favourite scene was when Sidious throws platforms at Yoda using the force. I'm going to see Episode III again tomorrow.

At last, Emotion and characters you started to care about. Only just seen it, and want some more. Yoda v Sidious, I demand a re-match smile

I have only one tiny critisism, my mate crunching those Nacho's, give it a rest man!

BUMP.

Alright, here she be, my Fan-Review of SW: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith:

First of all, I'd just like to say that I've been a SW fan since the very beginning, (though as a baby I couldn't fully appreciate ANH or ESB in all their glory). I've been looking forward to this movie since TPM and AotC came out, which I both liked in moderation, but then changed my viewpoint based on cheesy and bad dialogue/scenes in both movies. Personally, Jar-Jar wasn't even that bad....

Now, on to RotS. Stuff that bothered me first.

On Saturday, May 21st, 2005, at about 3:40 p.m., I sat down and watched the opening scroll for the final SW movie. I have to say, I noticed a problem with the scroll, (that's how nitpicky I am). IMAO, it seemed to move just a bit too fast, and wasn't on a steep enough slant.
The opening scenes with Anakin and Obi-Wan, I noticed quite early on, were very condeansed. There were virtually no Separatist Tri-Fighters, and I thought the cute-voiced Vulture 'Droids were a tad annoying.

The whole first half of the movie, (up until Anakin is put on the Council), seems so rushed, as if Lucas didn't want those scenes to be as awesome as they could be. Why did they cut out some of the Dooku Duel? "Just because there are two of you, do not assume you have the advantage!"

The whole Mace & Company vs. Palpatine was a bit too overracted, (or a bit underracted, as in SLJ's performance; though Christensen's performance <"What have I done?"> was very adequate). IM's performance, ("Unlimited Power!"), was very cheesy, and I nearly laughed.

What the hell?! No elaborate Kashyyyk battle, after 20 years of watching the Ewok battle in RotJ!?!?!?!? (Honestly, I actually liked the Ewoks, but still....) It seemed to me like there was no point of even showing Chewbacca, it was like a tease....

Where's my Order 66? How come I didn't see Quinlan Vos get his @$$ blown to pieces by a Juggernaught tank?! Why did they cut both Plo Koon and Aayla Secura's dialogue, again? This was our final chance to hear what those two sounded like, but no....

Where's my Alliance, fool!? Honestly, no Mon Mothma? It would have brought everything full circle....

And....I loved everything else. stick out tongue
I really enjoyed the score for RotS, JW is a brilliant composer. wink
I loved that my old buddy Chewie was represented, (although only briefly).
The rest of IM's performance, (after the Mace scene), was very good, but not astonishingly so like some have said. wink
HC's performance? Good. Not great, but better than in AotC. wink
EM's performance as Obi-Wan? Very good. It reminded me very much of good ole' Sir Alec Guiness, (though I thought that the scene where he gets in touch with Bail via. the HoloNet was sort of....well, as if he didn't care he'd just been almost killed....)

All in all, I have been looking forward to seeing this move since '97, when TPM-hype was building up, and the OTmessedE came out on VHS. It delivered almost everything I desired, though I hope the scenes that were cut are put back in for the DVD release,
RotS was a great movie, but not astonishingly-so, at least IMHO.

DISCLAIMER> The opinions and thoughts expressed in the above are those of DCLXVI, and not supported in anyway by other KMC members.

Having just seen ROTS again...for the THIRD time, I have to admit...it gets better to me with repeated viewing. I have to rank it a close second to ESB with ANH 3rd, AOTC 4th, ROTJ 5th, and TPM 6th imho.

Once you unlearn what you have learned (all of the early spoilers...early scripts, scenes that were cut) and just get into the movie for what it is, it plays out really well. Hell, even some of the Anakin / Padme scenes resonate some emotion, knowing what will happen in the end. The Jedi purge gets a lump in me throat every time and every time McDiarmid is on screen as Chancellor Palpatine, his voice and quality acting is riveting.

I miss some scenes too that I wanted to see and there are scenes that would have had more emotional oomph if edited better (specifically, Padme's death scene...shouldn't Anakin have "felt" her passing?). I also would have like to see Obi-Wan break down in tears after leaving Anakin dying on the lava bank...knowing that his friend is truly gone and the steps that he had to take to defeat him...Jedi should not be so cold that they can't have some emotion...they aren't Vulcans...Obi was near tears when Qui-Gon was killed so it would not be unlike him.

I just want everyone to go in and see it as if it were new and unknown, the way the rest of the public is. Who knows, you might actually enjoy it!

Well said shadow, I agree with it.

Though I thought what emotion Obi-Wan did show at the end was perfect, you could see the effect it was having on him, and unlike QGJ, he did this to Anakin, and Anakin had become a different person.
