Interesting, but not as strong as I would have thought. Good to see the Longest Yard falling off so quickly by comparison.

If estimate's are correct ROTS made $70,750,000 over the 4 day weekend. that would give it a total domestic gross of $271,193,000. That makes it 26th best Domestically Worldwide it's made $520,093,000. It also won this weekend after a rough start on Friday.

Interesting estimates, if I do say so. Seems my predictions were a bit high, but I had no idea how popular Longest Yard and Madagascar would be. Crazy...

I'll post an update when actuals come in, probably tomorrow.

Looks like totals are now around 270 million, its going to have its work cut out for it to reach 300 million first on the all time rank since Cinderella Man opens Friday, and I will most likely see it Fri or Sat. Guess I'll have to try and offset that by seeing Ep.3 sometime sooner, lol.

BOX OFFICE UPDATE: THURSDAY, JUNE 2, 2005

Week two of REVENGE OF THE SITH is at a close. Here is the breakdown of actual numbers from the past week:

FRIDAY: $15,579,342
SATURDAY: $20,918,340
SUNDAY: $18,708,290
MONDAY: $14,841,083
TUESDAY: $4,406,639
WEDNESDAY: $4,004,937

We all know that Friday's gross was owned by Adam Sandler and THE LONGEST YARD, which amazed everyone. However, SITH triumphed over the Three and Four-day Memorial Weekend, but did not set weekend records placing 6th highest Memorial Day weekend, over $20 million shy of the record set by THE LOST WORLD in 1997.

The second weekend record held by SHREK 2 was also quite a distance off with SITH arriving 4th and around $17 million light.

With a positive look, the final STAR WARS film triumphed over the 9th and 10th day of release records.

While the Tuesday and Wednesday drops were expected, they are much lower than expected...even lower than for THE PHANTOM MENACE by around $1 million per day. Look for today's gross to be around $4 million again.

As far as the next record on the rampage...Fastest to $300 million seems a very likely feat to achieve. REVENGE OF THE SITH should gather another $32 million this weekend, but that might be high considering the long awaited and advertised CINDERELLA MAN will also be released.

Regardless, look for SITH to take the record for Fastest to $300 million on Saturday on day 17 of its release, one day faster than SHREK 2. A close call, but still "Impressive...most impressive."

As far as the record for Fastest to $400 million, let's hold off a while. Keep in mind, only six films have broken that mark...and while it is a good possibility that SITH will exceed $400 million...it is weeks down the road.

Shifting gears to total gross, REVENGE OF THE SITH has amassed $278,901,370 in just 14 days making it the 26th highest grossing picture of all time. Worldwide gross is a whopping $534,894,216! SITH places 31st on the worldwide scale directly behind the fan's favorite saga movie, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. RETURN OF THE JEDI resides at 44th.

Everyone, be sure to hit your local movie theatre this weekend to help out. If you plan on seeing CINDERELLA MAN...why not wait until, say...Monday?

I won't watch cinderella man at all, partly for that reason(the other part is the horrid actress that is: Rene Zellwegger). I aim to see star wars at least once this weekend.

BOX OFFICE UPDATE

REVENGE OF THE SITH collected another $3,903,255 on Thursday, so far the lowest gross of the film's release. This leaves SITH at a total gross of $282,804,625 before heading into its third weekend.

Hopefully, SITH will capture the record for Fastest to $300 million in 17 days this Saturday.
