Because this is a message board and we debate?? And since we were going back and forth on why this movie is better than that one...doesn’t it make any sense to you that we back up our answers…or at least try to? God forbid we explain why we like something.
This is about the stupidest answer I have ever read to one of my replies on any board ever. You sir, win a cookie.
Now, Dodo was good enough to answer (again, because we are discussing it) and his reason was for loving anh is the exact reason it is not my fav. Every one of the six movies have a stale plot...or as some like to call it, a brilliant plot. (laugh) ANH takes the cake with the most overused....err, brilliant plot of the six.
Now for a most ignorant question.
Sigh......
Reason number 1: Atmosphere of the movies. I know that explaining why I like things may be looked down upon by some, errrr, but I feel the world that GL created is incredible. Jedi, Sith, Hoth, Light sabres, the whole shebang. Now that creation in itself is unique and brilliant in the truest sense of the word.
Reason number 2: Characters. Darth Vader. Obi-Wan. Anakin. R2-d2.
Without any of these things the plot for anh and the rest of the movies would be irrelevant. Why?
Because no one would be discussing them all these years later.
Anyone who likes a movie from the PT above a movie from the OT should not call themselves Star Wars fans. My list is as follows;
1. ESB
2. ANH
3. RotJ
4. RotS
5. TPM
6. AotC
Why, because those are the order from 1 being best and 6 being worst that they are. That's what it is. That's it. #1 is the best and #6 is the worst.

If TPM was the first SW movie released people today will love the prequels and dis the sequels only because " it was the first one i saw therefore its the best". ANH was rubbish. THE worst SW movie ever
Why the hell does everyone feel that they have to rate them? I don't have a specific order, I enjoy each one of them for their own qualities. Aren't they suppossed to be one story anyway?
i didn't like a new hope really. I watched it for the first time 5 years ago, so that's probably why, but still, it just seemed pathetic. They got better. Vader just sounds too unvaderlike in it, in the first scene where he basically throws a temper tantrum telling everyone to search the ship and find the princess alive.
No. i just have my own opinion just as you have yours. Personaly i like the prequels very much and watch atleast one of the 6 every day (yes the entire 2 hours). I could sit here and call you crazy for expressing your opinion and we will just go round in circles.
1. ROTJ - it's the end of anakin and finales are the best
2. ROTS - it's got cool fight scenes
3. TESB - good ending
4. TPM - it was funny and cool with qui-gon n Darth maul
5. ANH - shows you about luke, leia, han but not much action
6. AOTC - because it didn't make much sense and I only saw it once in 2002
