As if GL cares what your opinion is on his own creation's concept of Balance.
Balance in Star Wars works like GL says it does, and there is no more complication than that; your opinion is irrelevant.
If you think it is different in real life, that's something different. Feel free to make your own story that has a different message. Good luck with that.

I totally agree. I dont think Lucas' give a melon about what the fans think.
I mean after TPM he still went and made AotC. He just doesnt care how he whores himself nowadays.
And I agree with overlord, possibly a completely new story, even screw the EU, much of the problems with the PT as that it was tied to the concepts of the OT, so a lot must have had to be comprimised.
I sure as hell wouldn't care what the fans thought if I was GL. I'd be writing my own damn story, not a load of fan-wank. I'd leave people to judge my OWN creation on its OWn merits,
Whoring yourself out would b to just make a film the fans want- which would also be entirely shitty.

There are some fans that actually liked the PT, me for example. Most people tear the movies apart until there appears to be nothing to like, but there is. If you look at the PT individually, yes there is crummy acting, but I find they are enjoyable.
As for a new storyline, I don't think it would work. We all know and love the story of Anakin, and yes the EU is good, but put to a movie with a sh*t load of CGI just wouldn't cut it for me.
Not the bleedin' "PT was good" argument again dammit. Where do you people come from!?
However with a new storyline, no it probably wouldnt be good, but if it was almost totally removed from the OT and *winces* PT then it would not have to apply by those boundaries, stories, logic, maybe not even the terrible cliches.
But was the PT good? no. People thought that would be something fresh and new, but it became clear something like the OT couldnt be mirrored quickly and that the attempt Lucas employed did not work at all.
Uh, "We are all entitled to our own opinion."
I except your opinion and will not argue about it anymore, all that need be is that you except mine.
God, now I am off topic.
Going by exanda's opinion, looking at how badly Lucas screwed up the PT, 7, 8, and 9 probably couldn't be any better, and there is no use in making them.
I personally don't want an Episode 7-9, but if it were to be made, I think there may be a way around not ruining the whole SW story.
What could happen is Palpatine returns (as a clone-- but not like the EU).. he wishes to take over the new Republic by gathering under him the fragmented Empire. Then the story could be about Luke fighting off the regathered Empire and Palpatine's new apprentice (someone who looks like Anton LaVey-- do a google on him-- in a Dooku outfit would be cool!).
In the end, Anakin's spirit could manifest into Luke giving Luke the much needed strength to once and for all destroy the Sith-- therefore the story could still be about Anakin Skywalker and the destruction of the Sith.

Oh man, not the PT Haters Club again! From under what rock did YOU people crawl out from? Must you and your ilk besmirch every thread with your anti-PT crankcase drainage? The PT was wonderful!
